Jennifer was growing incredibly impatient as she looked out the window to the street where Colin disappeared two days before. She had not spoken to him since he said goodbye to her and it made her on edge for every sound or even rustle in the leaves outside. Her eyes never shifted from the window as she hoped he realized they were better fighting this together. As she sat there alone, she realized how angry she was at him for leaving her. For making her a target as well as himself. She realized how painful it was for her to be with child, just married, and alone sitting beside a window and looking as the rain was hitting hard against the pavement.
Just as her eyes began to grow heavy, Lana came in with a large smile and news from Colin.
"What is it?" Jennifer asked anxiously as she saw her smile not fading.
"Colin found a place for you two to stay...although it's not ideal..."
"Where?"
"He didn't specify...but he said it's smart and he wants me to bring you there in a week..."
"A week?!"
"He is going to tell me where so that way-"
"A week?! I can't stand another bloody day! How can I deal with a week?" Just as she spoke, what sounded like a rock going through the window came from beside Jennifer. Lana quickly realized how it had been an outsider with a weapon.
She pulled her to the back bathroom before pulling her cellphone from her pocket.
"No signal..." She said with a deep breath.
"What do we do?"
"Wait it out...." Lana said as the front door opened slowly-filling the silence with a loud creak.
