when you moved in
you filled a void i didn't know i had
i wasn't looking for a tenant
but somehow you found a way to inhabit
you made a home inside my vacant heartwhen you moved in
you decorated my life with colorful memories
you furnished my walls with all the possibilities
of all the things we pictured we would do and all the places we would gowhen we settled in
it felt like home
it was safe
it was constant
it was secure
because of youbut it didn't stay that way
you violated our contract
you abandoned the home we created
you decided the lease was up
and vacated the premises
evicting yourself from
our home
my heart
and you took with you the joy that illuminated this home
without you, the darkness creeped in
and our home
and my heart
slipped into foreclosureso now
as i drive by your new neighborhood
i see the lights reflecting off the windows,
exposing the fully decorated walls of
new possibilities
and i realize
you've moved on
you've moved into
a new home
