"Let's get going (Y/n)"

You glanced up from your bed as you watched Hunter grabbing his cloak and mask, your hand tighten on the staff you were holding while Sage was softly cooing at your side. Noticing your distress about the mission.

Your silence wasn't new to Hunter so he simply walked out of the room giving your figure a final glance before closing the door behind him. Once the door was closed you huffed a sigh of relief as you laid down on your bed, letting go of your grip on your staff.

"My heart is beating so fast-"

Raising your hand up to your chest you could feel your heart beating faster and faster. It was a normal mission- but you couldn't help but feel nervous, after that night of cuddling there seemed to be some sort of tension between you and Hunter. It was the small things at first, sneaking glances at one another. But it became worse to the point where the both of you couldn't even maintain eye contact for more than a second.

"I know..."

Sage was nudging your wrist reminding you about the mission, sighing again you sat up and grabbed the silver mask and clock which was resting beside you. Standing up you dawn on your cloak and mask as you walked out of the room to meet Hunter in the hanger.

-

"We're almost there"

You spoke as you glanced through the telescope, looking at Hexide with a longing gaze.

I wonder what's it like to go to school...

"Hunter...have you ever wondered what school is like"

It seemed like the question caught Hunter off guard as the ship slightly jolted to the side, once Hunter managed to steer the ship straight he turned to look at you who was looking out into the night sky. The same direction where Hexide is,

"Did something happen to you after the fight with the owl lady ?"

You were sort of expecting him to ask, even you knew that you weren't acting like yourself after the fight with the owl family.

"What makes you say that ?"

"You never asked so many questions about the outside world- and you always seem like you're thinking of something else. Not focusing on the mission at all"

"...I guess i just have a lot of thoughts on my mind.."

"You're not doubting my uncle are you ?"

Your eyes widen from that accusation, turning to face Hunter immediately but was slightly taken aback when you saw Hunter's red eyes glaring at you.

"Of course I'm not-! I owe Belos my life !"

"Then act like it-!"

You step back now as your hand started to shake in fear from Hunter sudden outburst. When Hunter noticed your sudden fear he regaled back, stepping back and turning away to focus on the steering wheel. Shaken up from the sudden accusation you silently sat down as Sage sat on your shoulder cuddling into your stiff figure.

The rest of the night was silent until you could hear the gears in the ship turning, standing up your eyes looked around the empty Hexide field as well as the dark and closed buildings surrounding it. Hearing the clamps tighten on the Palisman nest. You sighed and sat back down when you heard Hunter restarting the engine.

During late night missions you and hunter would sneak away for a few minutes to watch the stars and sky but now...as much as you wanted to walk up to Hunter and help him yo could still see that scowl on his face from earlier. You opted to just stay back, you didn't want to anger him more, you were never afraid of confrontation especially towards people who were not in line but when it came to Hunter ?

The one person's approval that meant the world to you- you couldn't stand it. You knew what you were doing wasn't for Belos but for the sake of Hunter. He treated you like family more than Belos ever did. It was evident that Belos loved Hunter more than you even though the two of you were about the same age.

You were about to close your eyes and drift off into sleep when you heard a sudden creak down the ship. Standing up you grabbed your staff and turned to look down, nothing...you turned back only to see a familiar figure climbing up the ship and holding a leaf in her hand.

"Human-!"

Before you could do anything Luz dashed towards Hunter and slapped on the leaf onto his cape, gasping you see Hunter getting launched off the ship. Immediately you pulled out your staff and pointed it towards Luz who simply starred at you in silence before turning away to the sterling wheel. Confused you took a step forward,

"W-what are you doing ? Aren't you here to launch me off too ?"

"You're...Hooty's friend and in turn your my friend too now !"

Overwhelmed with all the unexpected events from tonight you slightly relaxed and lowered your staff until a voice snapped you out of your daze.

"Hi~"

He's pissed-!

You looked and saw Hunter immediately summoning a rope to tie up Luz and drag her to the end of the ship as he brushed doff the dust from his cloak. You can see his grip on his staff tighten so hard that's the leather gloves were literally squeezing it. He immediately teleported in front of Luz threatening her,

"I'll zap you to dust and throw you into the sea, that better ?"

Hunter walked back to the steering wheel but not before giving you a side glance and nudging his head towards the wheel. Glancing at Luz who was looking at you now, you looked away and walked to the steering wheel beside Hunter.

"The human didn't hurt you did she ?"

Surprised you turned to look at Hunter who was still mad but was now looking at the sky dead ahead.

"No...Are you alright ?"

"I'm fine, I teleported before the impact but you and I need to have a talk once we reach the castle. I know you hesitated...and even if its for a good cause i want to know why, and I'm sorry...for lashing out at you earlier..."

"Hunter..."

You noticed that he tip of his ears were slightly red as he turned to face you, your face grew hot not really knowing what to say.

"Hunter..I-"

You wanted to speak your mind but suddenly the ship rocked heavily back and fourth and you could hear a rip in the ballon. Gasping you turned to Hunter to see him trying to grasp for his staff but since he wasn't holding it,it fell down

"Hunter !"

You picked your staff up and tried to summon a protective circle but you tripped backwards knocking your head on the floorboard and everything went black.
