{Momoi POV}A few weeks came by and flew right past us. It was fall already, and the cold winds were starting to make us shiver.
I lived with Dai-Chan for the past few weeks with no issue. I started to notice him be more attentive with how he kept his place. He was making sure I ate correctly and went to sleep early. Sometimes he'd wake me up and we'd jog together.
My life is simple, and calm.
So what the hell is wrong with my head?
Today as well: I woke up in a cold sweat, reaching for something that didn't exist. As my senses started to get used to my surroundings, the door opened.
"Satsuki? Heard ya yelling. You good?" He had a toothbrush in his mouth. "Nightmares again?"
I nodded, taking a shaky breath. "They won't go away..."
"Hold up, I'll be righ' back." He jogged to the bathroom and cleaned his mouth before returning to my room and sitting at the edge of the bed. "The same one?"
I shook my head.
"Tell me about it."
"It was..." I tried my best to recollect the vivid dream. "They were...hitting me again. I was back at the house. And...and..." My hands clenched at the sheets tightly. "You were just...standing there...not doing anything..."
"...Alright, look." He reached over and gently(but firmly) cupped my face, making me face him. "Listen, dummy. What'd I say about dreams?"
"...They're just messing with me. They're not real."
"Exactly. You think I'd leave you while you get hurt? You know how much money I spent on you this last month? Hell no, you're too expensive to be hit."
I smiled slightly as he let go of my face.
"Besides, you're my friend, right? I'll protect you 'cause that's what friends do. We won't let you get hurt. And you got the guys, too." He said. "Let's go jogging, weather's pretty good today."
"Yeah." I said, with a smile. "Thanks, Dai-chan."
. . .
I was staring off into space when Dai-chan turned in his seat to look at me. "Whatcha thinkin' 'bout?"
It was break time so there were students out of the classroom. I was nibbling on the tip of my pen.
"Nothing important."
"Wanna go get something to drink? It's kinda cold so I can't go on the roof." He said, clicking his tongue. "Let's go."
Just as we were about to leave, the door burst open and a few teachers from the office were there. "Momoi Satsuki-chan?"
I blinked in confusion for a second. "Um...yes?"
"Come with us to the office. Your parents are here to pick you up."
{Aomine POV}
"...What?"
I could see her body tense at the mention of those bastards.
"Wh...Who?"
"Your parents." The teacher repeated. "They said they had a family emergency and said they needed to see you quickly. Is something wrong? They came with the police and everything."
I looked back at Satsuki who was starting to shake.
"I don't want..." She looked at me. "Dai-chan..."
"Hey, I don't think she's ready to see them right now." I said, pulling her arm close to me.
"Why, is something wrong?" The teacher asked.
"Family trouble." I said, walking in front of them. "I know them. We've known each other since I was a kid, so they should know me."
"Aomine-kun, they aren't asking for you--"
"Yeah? Then I guess she's not going." I said firmly. "Cmon, Satsuki."
I grabbed her wrist and led her to the other doors, walking away from the group of adults standing at the doorway.
. . .
In the end, they let me meet up with them while Satsuki stayed in the next room. I burst open the door, walking inside to see the two douchebags stand up.
"Hah? Is his some kinda joke? I asked for the girl—ahem, my daughter!"
"'Your daughter' my ass." I snapped, placing myself in the chair in front of them. "What do you want?"
"I said, 'we would like to make sure my daughter is safe at home', not 'Let me see the douchebag who might've kidnapped her'," The man snapped.
"KIDNAP her?" I asked, scoffing. "You're joking, right? Why the hell would I kidnap Satsuki?"
"Exactly what a kidnapper would say!" The woman was crying, tears falling down her face. I cringed.
Geez...So fucking dramatic.
"You really wanna see your daughter? Seriously? After all you've done to her?" I challenged, making sure to noticeably look at the police officer behind them.
"We're innocent! I don't know what you are talking about, but all I ask is to see my beloved daughter!" The woman shouted, standing up. "Let me—!"
"Innocent?" I asked, standing up. She flinched when I smiled in disbelief. "You really think so? Innocent? Do you want me to tell you what I saw that day we met at your door? You want me to tell you how she's been living these past few months? Want me to tell you why she doesn't want to fucking SEE you?"
The woman grimaced. She definitely knew what I was going to say if she didn't sit her ass down. She ended up slumping down in her chair, her legs trembling. I walked over to the two of them.
Let's do some mental damage while we're here.
Leaning in and lowering my voice, I muttered, "You guys should start realizing that your future is in Satsuki's hands. Whether you rot in jail for the rest of your life or live peacefully is up to her."
I could see the man's eyes glaze over in realization as the lady's bottom lip started to tremble. Giving them a smile, I waved. "See ya."
"Would you still like to see your daughter?" The police officer asked, as I passed by him.
I smiled as I closed the door, hearing, "No, I don't think we will."
