I untied myself, but it was a little too late. Amaya slowly raised her hand to her neck as Scarlet stood behind her, grinning in satisfaction. When Amaya's face sank at the sight of her blood smeared all over her fingers, tears began to fall from my tired eyes. She fell to the floor within seconds and I rushed to her side. I fumbled to find her hand and grabbed it. "Stay with me, Amaya." I, myself, could even hear the tremble in my voice. Amaya wasn't going to die, I wasn't going to let it happen, but in the worst case scenario, I didn't want her to see me crying as she left. "Please," I begged. "Please." When she opened her eyes, a flicker of hope lit inside my heart. She struggled to speak but managed to say the three most meaningful words: "I love you."
"I love you Amaya, please don't leave me. I can't do this without you. Please, you're the only thing I have left." I was choking on my own words as I sobbed over her almost lifeless body. She squeezed my hand tightly as her eyes closed again, and when I felt her grip weaken, that's when I knew it was all over. Despite this, I tried my best to still hold out hope. "Please..." I whispered for the final time. I let my heavy head rest on her chest. I don't know why, but I wanted to hear a heartbeat, even just a faint one. It wasn't there. She was gone. She was gone forever. I'm so sorry Amaya. Guilt overwhelmed me. I could've done something. I should've done something.

I slowly looked up to see Scarlet standing perfectly still, like a statue, holding the blood-dripping knife in her hand. I was shaking in grief, but with every second that my eyes glared at her, I was filled with rage. Without thinking, I leapt up and grabbed the knife from her hand. "Why did you do it?" I questioned. She didn't reply. "I SAID WHY DID YOU DO IT?!" My throat grew dry from my yell.
"I-"
"Answers, now." I demanded in a quieter voice.
"I don't know."
"Oh, come on," I groaned. "Don't play dumb with me." To my surprise, she started to cry. "What the hell is wrong with you?" I asked angrily. "You're a murderer. I bet you didn't have this problem killing Noah, and you seemed fine a few minutes ago, so what's going on?"
"I didn't want to escape. I know I deserved to be in there."
"So why did you come here?"
"I was forced to."
"Elaborate."
"No." She didn't even hesitate. I held the knife to her throat.
"Tell me, or you face the consequences."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"That's against the rules."
"What rules? Why do you keep referencing a game?"
"Because that's what this is."
"So, to you, killing people is but a game?" She didn't answer my question. She only stared blankly into my soul. Out of the blue, she threw a punch in my direction. Instinctively, I went to hit her back, only I completely forgot there was a knife in my hand. I struck her directly in the stomach. "No, no, no, no." I said quietly to myself.
"He's coming for you." Scarlet muttered during her final breaths.
"Who?" No reply: great. I started to panic. I scrambled to find my phone in my pocket, and scrolled through my messages before I found the chat. Wow, it's been a while.

I turned my phone off. Amaya's phone was buzzing in the room next door. I wish everything would just stop, even for one second so I could catch my breath. That's when my mind started racing at Scarlet's final words: "He's coming for you". During my episode of pure fear, something clicked. Someone sent Scarlet to kill Amaya. As I went to tell the twins, I realised something else, thanks to their notifications. Aiden's message read: "Wait, Axel, where's Amaya?", followed by Avery's which was: "Yeah, how come you started with 'either of you' instead of 'all of you'?"

Well, I guess they'd just have to see for themselves.
