ONE WEEK LATER
Taehyung's mansion felt more like home than your own home, and that was saying something. You were a very independent woman as evident by your refusal to accept any of Jimin and Taehyung's cash. However, you still felt fine with your thoughts. Your deadly ones.
You wanted to move in with Tae.
Okay, maybe that was being dramatic, but you really wanted to be with Tae more than you were by yourself. Cheesy, sappy, dramatic, cliché - any of those words could describe how you felt, but you didn't care. You were in love with Tae, and him with you, so why did it matter if you wanted to move in? The only thing holding you back was your unbelievably high ego. You wanted to be a bread winner and have all the money in the world. Taehyung having money didn't bother you in any regard, but you wished you had money too. You feared that life would get so hard that you gave in and accepted his money. So that was why you were here early.
Taehyung wasn't expecting you today. You told him you were doing family matters, and he left you be to instead go out with Jimin. This was like a surprise in your eyes. The thought of his sparkling eyes when he realized you were here had your heart racing. He loved hanging out with you, and you loved hanging out with him. This would be the perfect opportunity to make out and talk about your future. You were excited for both, but the make out part was admittedly very appealing to you right about now.
You trekked down the halls of his abode, observing the way he had everything set up. His bedroom was your favorite of all, and no, not because he had a king sized bed. That helped, but the true reason was because he had a private bathroom that was bigger than your forehead. The shower was gigantic and glass. That was without mentioning there were speakers built into the ceiling, therefore you could connect your phone to them and blast music while showering. And the best part: the bathroom was soundproofed. You could sing at the top of your lungs, and it'd be very difficult to hear you.
But the bathroom wasn't where you were currently. You went inside the kitchen, the lights off for some reason. Taehyung kept many of the other lights on, but not these ones? Whatever, you weren't about to judge him. So, you flipped the switch, the fluorescent lighting blinding your senses for a moment. You yawned, stretching your limbs as you went to his fridge. He'd be home soon. Most likely very soon. Why not cook him a surprise meal?
Taehyung preferred eating fresh, healthy foods. Something about a diet. Sounded strange, right? Kim Taehyung, an ice cream parlor employee, was on a diet. A billionaire CEO with a surprising amount of food in his fridge. He was on a diet. Welp, once again, you wouldn't judge him for his life choices. They were his, not yours. Not like you minded making fresh meals. Maybe he was the smart one for doing that. You should take after him, huh?
With all that in mind, you prepared a meal for him, humming as you did so. You decided to make sesame beef with broccoli and noodles. Light noodles for Tae, heavy noodles for you. When you finished, you peeped at the clock. Tae didn't stay out this late with Jimin most of the time, so he had to be home any minute now. You set the meals down on the kitchen table, but your eyes were drawn to something else. An envelope.
Would it be wrong for you to snoop and gaze inside it? Obviously yes, that was Tae's business, not yours. You picked up the envelope, about to set it on the counter when papers slipped out. The fuck? Why was it open? You grunted and put the envelope down where you originally intended to, bending over to grab the rest. Doing your best not to snoop, you folded the papers back up-
What the fuck.
Your eyes caught one thing and one thing only. 'Hospital billing statement'. Okay, you liked to consider yourself a decent person, but when your boyfriend had a letter saying that, you had no self-restraint. You snooped despite feeling awful about it, opening the top page with quivering hands. There were many words on there you didn't understand, but you saw the price, and your jaw dropped. That costed more than your entire college tuition for 4 years. Literally. And that was what terrified you the most. What could have possibly cost him that much at the hospital? The date was only from a few days ago, so how did he hide this from you? Did he pretend he was meeting with Jimin? Was there something else going on-
"I would thank you for the meal, but I have a feeling we're not eating it anytime soon."
You shifted to him, Taehyung setting his bag on the table and approaching you. With all your might, you attempted not to break down. So it was for him. It wasn't him paying someone else's bills, or it wasn't Jimin who left it here by accident (which would still break your heart if Jimin was the one hurt). Taehyung was in the hospital. But why?
"The hospital?" you asked, trying to make your voice sound strong, but you failed miserably. "Why were you in the hospital, why didn't you tell me, and why did it cost that much?"
"I was there because I collapsed, I couldn't tell you because it'd break your heart, and it costed that much because of the condition I have."
"Condition...?"
Taehyung had tears in his eyes, and that only had you backing up, your arms forming goosebumps. "I'm sorry, Y/n," he said, his voice a whisper passing by your ears. You wanted to speak, to say anything, but your mind was blank and completely at his mercy. His next words, however, were what broke you in two.
"I have a heart condition."
