FIVE MONTHS LATER
Y/n and Taehyung were together for seven months now, and he adored every second of it. He felt himself getting weaker by the day, and he knew it was only a matter of time before he passed. Maybe a heart attack, or maybe he'd drift away. Either way, he was going to doctors all the time to discuss his symptoms. They did their very best to combat them. And to their credit, it actually did work a lot. Taehyung felt strong some days, and weak others. In general, he knew he wasn't going to make it past five years. Hell, he doubted he'd make it past two. But he was enjoying his time here. And now, he was with the two people he cared about most. Y/n and Jimin.
His girlfriend was buying tickets at the stand, the carnival they were at buzzing with life. Taehyung hadn't seen so many people since... ever. He thought he'd be annoyed by the massive crowds, but he found himself feeling grateful more than anything. Regardless, he shifted his attention to his best friend, shooting the man a boxy smile.
"So, is this day 456 of me telling you to tell your girlfriend you love her?" Tae asked. Jimin kept his gaze on Y/n, and Taehyung's face fell. "Min?"
"Can I tell you a secret?"
"Always. What's wrong? You and your girlfriend are still together, right?"
"I proposed to her yesterday."
Taehyung smacked Jimin's shoulder, the man whining like a little baby from the sensation. "You asshole! Why didn't you tell me you were planning that?"
"Because then I would've had to tell you at that point."
"Tell me what?"
Jimin groaned and placed a hand on his forehead, mumbling a "this is so embarrassing" before peering at Taehyung. "I already told her I loved her." Taehyung was about to smack him again, but Jimin hopped back and threw his hands up in defeat. "Listen, it was mortifying, okay? I... I may have told her I loved her on the first day we were together."
Taehyung burst out laughing without meaning to, and it became Jimin's turn to smack him. Tae pouted, but Jimin kept his glare. It was a glare of amusement despite the 'hostility' present in Jimin's puppy eyes. "Okay, well, two questions. 1: did she say it back?" He shook his head. "Pffft, Jimin got rejected? What the hell-"
"I don't need a reminder. It was bad enough. I said it without even thinking, and she got so awkward about it... ah, I'm amazed she didn't break up with me. She ended up saying it back two weeks later, but still, I'll never forget that."
"I can see why you wouldn't tell me then, but still, you're kind of stupid. Now question 2: what did she say when you proposed?"
Jimin pulled out his phone, tapping away on it before showing Taehyung a picture. A picture of a hand with a diamond ring on it. Taehyung squealed and jumped into Jimin's arms, Jimin gasping from the contact. He still managed to hold Taehyung up, spinning him around slightly. And after, Tae found himself back on his feet, his eyes meeting Jimin's kind ones.
"She really said yes?" Tae asked. Jimin paused, then nodded, his eye smile coming out. "I'm so happy for you. You know that I'll always support you, right?" Jimin didn't disagree, so Tae took his hand and led him over to Y/n. He said he'd wait by the gates, but eh, he missed his girlfriend, so he hoped she didn't mind the early visit. Based on the way she grinned upon seeing the duo, he guessed she was more than fine with it. "Hey."
"Hey," she said, moving up in line. Only two spots away. "You two look happy. Anything you want to tell me?"
"Nothing in particular, just that Jimin got engaged yesterday," Tae said, Y/n's jaw dropping.
