A/N: My life is a mess so I came back to continue my Swan Lake au
.
When the elves said that they'll get Yeosang ready for the ball, they weren't joking. They took their job very seriously.
'Okay, we have a few hours until dawn' Hongjoong paced back and forth. 'Then we'll turn back into animals which would make it a bit harder so let's do it! Where should we start?'
Seonghwa sat on thin air with crossed legs, looking at Hongjoong amazed. He'd never seen the swan boy this focused.
'How do I act in a castle? There will be all aristocrats there' asked Yeosang sitting on the ground. Then he paled. 'Omg, I'm going to mess it up. I'm going to say something stupid. He's going to realize I'm just a stinky bird. He's going to run away. What am I even thinking, I-'
'Sang, chill!' said Wooyoung while laying on the ground, swinging his legs and supporting his chin in his palms. 'Just be yourself. You're not going to mess it up. I mean, he fell for you for who you are~' he sang.
'He didn't fall for me' whined Yeosang and turned away blushing.
'Whatever makes you sleep at night' shrugged it off Wooyoung.
'Woo is right' said Seonghwa. 'Just be yourself. Don't make a fool out of yourself and try not to overthink.'
'Easier said than done' sighed Yeosang but made a mental note anyways. 'What else?'
'What are you going to wear?' asked Beomgyu, who was casually sitting on the Book of Forest Lore again. Yeosang widened his eyes.
'That's something I haven't thought about yet.'
'Ohhh, I've been waiting for this one!' Seonghwa stood up from his sitting position in the air and floated next to Yeosang, then he touched the boy's crown with his magic wand. Sparkles appeared out of the crown and with a flash of a light, Yeosang's clothes turned into the coolest clothes he had ever worn. The suit and the matching pants were a lilac color, the shirt under the suit was white and his tie was a darker shade of the same color. For extras, the outfit had some feathers on it, making it look swan-like. His hair was also combed nicely and of course the crystal crown was still on his head.
(A/N: ok, I had no idea how to describe this, for reference search up Odette's dress from the Barbie movie)
'Wooow, you look beautiful!' Yunho's smol deer eyes sparklingly stared up at Yeosang. Yeosang smiled at him.
'Indeed' agreed Hongjoong.
'Thank you, Seonghwa' smiled Yeosang at the Fairy King.
'I've always wanted to do something like that' grinned back Seonghwa.
'Now for the main part!' shouted San. 'Dance!'
'Oh' Yeosang was still amazed with his outfit. 'I have no idea how to dance at a ball.'
'Well, let me show you!' San stood in front of him and looked up at him. It was quite a funny sight as the elf was about half the height of Yeosang. They all sat down in the grass and the tree trunks and watched San dance around in front of them. The little hedgehog boy took his performance real seriously, but it had some pretty weird moves like his hip thrusts which would've been better left unseen if you asked Yeosang.
At the end of the song - which was by the way performed by the other elves - San bowed and they all clapped politely.
'That was... real unique, San darling' said Seonghwa. Yeosang chuckled.
'It should be a bit slower. It needs a little salsa!' suggested Wooyoung and started dancing to another song. At the end of it, Mingi decided to voice his thoughts.
'You know, these were both really interesting, but for some reason I can't see the moment when Prince Jongho declares his true love to Yeosang.'
'Agreed' Beomgyu swinged his legs back and forth.
'Wait, let me' said Seonghwa and stood on the ground. 'Follow me' he said as he held Yeosang's hand. They started dancing to a waltz's rhythm while Seonghwa was counting quietly. Yeosang soon felt himself getting more confident in his steps and smiled at Seonghwa.
'Thank you' he whispered. Seonghwa smiled back and nodded. They were caught in their moves as they heard loud laughter and saw San and Wooyoung crazily spinning away next to them, rhythm long forgotten, with Yunho and Beomgyu supporting them with their cheers.
Then Yeosang's eyes spotted Hongjoong who was laughing from his heart, sitting alone on Mingi's back.
'Go, dance with him' he whispered to Seonghwa. He followed Yeosang's eyes and smiled warmly at the sight of Hongjoong.
'You know he likes you too, right?' whispered Yeosang.
'W-What?' stuttered Seonghwa. This was the first time Yeosang saw the Fairy King this flustered. He found it amusing. 'I-I don't... well, I-... how did you know?'
'Both of you are so obvious' giggled Yeosang. Seonghwa just sighed.
'It's just... he is an elf and I'm the Fairy King...'
'Man, you're about to marry off a baker to the kingdom's crown prince. Don't you dare to say that.'
'But what will the others think?'
'Since when do you care what others think?' Yeosang rolled his eyes. 'Besides everyone ships you two. Now go' he let go of the fairy's hands.
Seonghwa smiled again as he looked back at Hongjoong with loving eyes. Then he shrinked to the height of the elves (when Yeosang first saw this ability of his, he couldn't stop laughing) and floated towards Hongjoong. Said boy gasped as Seonghwa held his hand out for him.
'Can I have this dance?' he asked. Hongjoong nodded while smiling widely and took the fairy's hand.
'Dance with me, Yeo!' Yunho tugged on Yeosang's suit. Yeosang was quick to pick up the tiny boy and started swaying around with him, making Yunho giggle.
As they were all laughing and dancing along, they didn't see Rothbart's shadow growing above them. They only realized it when they heard Beomgyu's pained scream as the troll was being picked up by the hawk with the Book of Forest Lore still between his hands.
