Chapter 21 - A Bear

Looking back, Jongho should have known that something is wrong. How Yeosang didn't speak the whole time, or how familiar his father's eyes looked, and also the fact that he didn't even mention that they heard that the prince was looking for them, as he was sure the villagers he talked to wouldn't forget to mention them something important like this. But he didn't pay attention to these signs and now they all had to face the consequences.

'Hah, that was easier than I thought' laughed Yeosang's father and he and Yeosang started glowing. Jongho took a step back as he already knew he messed up big time.

Father and son turned into Rothbart and Omen. Everybody gasped in the ball room. Jongho almost forgot about all the people around them.

'Rothbart' whispered Jongho. 'What are you doing? Where's Yeosang? What did you do to him?'

'More like what did you do to him, My Prince' smirked Rothbart. 'The crystal lost its power as the True Love of the Chosen One confessed their love for someone else. Or did Yeosang forget to mention you that?'

Jongho was fuming. From the corner of his eye he saw Huening Kai throwing his sword towards him. He caught it and ran towards Rothbart.

'It's no use, Prince' said Rothbart with a straight face. 'Face the facts, if your lover dies, you can't blame anyone else but yourself.' Then both him and Omen turned into hawks and with a wave of his wing, he opened up a window. They flew outside. Jongho followed them out of the ball room.

'Wow, that was a plot twist, mate' whispered Felix to Chan. Chan and Kai looked at each other from two different corners of the room and nodded. They followed Jongho outside, making their way through the crowd.

The sun went down. The body of the swan on the ground started glowing and turned into Yeosang's lifeless body. The two hawks landed next to him. Rothbart took the faded crystal from Yeosang's crown and put it in the medal of his own necklace.

'Hah. I defeated the magical crystal! The Enchanted Forest will be finally mine! And after that we can conquer many other lands too, Omen! We'll be the rulers of the whole world!'

'Hahhahhahahahahaa' screeched Omen. They walked away from Yeosang's body. They didn't see the eyes that were staring at them from a carriage not that far away, which was being pulled by a weird brown colored horse that had kind of a horn too. They also didn't realize that the crown prince was staring at his lover's body from the roof.

'Yeosang' whispered Jongho as a teardrop made its way down his face. 'I'm so sorry.' Then he followed the evil people with his sword still in his hand.

'Now' whispered Seonghwa as he raised his wand. Yeosang's body was raised from the ground and with Seonghwa's last bits of strength, he was floated into the carriage that they parked in the castle garden, next to the fountain, where Jongho a few days earlier practiced archery with Kai.

'Go, Mingi, go!' Yunho said as he nudged the horse with his little feet. The tallest of the four elves was sitting on the unicorn's back, while Wooyoung and San sat in the front seat of the carriage, with Hongjoong and Seonghwa in the back with Yeosang in their lap.

'Did he die?' asked Hongjoong in a small voice, looking up at Seonghwa with teary eyes as he patted Yeosang's hair.

'No' Seonghwa shook his head. 'He is still breathing. The crystal lost its power but it protected him until the end. We can save him.'

'And what about the prince?' Wooyoung turned back to them.

'Yeosang is our priority now. The prince will probably fight Rothbart, but we have to worry about him later.'

Meanwhile Prince Jongho jumped from the roof like Spiderman, and landed in front of Rothbart. The hawk man rolled his eyes.

'You never learn, prince?' he raised his hand and attacked him, but the prince jumped out of the way of the dark spell. It was however enough to make his sword turn into dust, so Jongho became unarmed against the dark wizard. Rothbart groaned. 'I wanted to turn you into a bear earlier, well, I'll do it now! Then the hunters will hopefully kill you, but at least you won't be able to sit on the throne anytime soon!' he shouted and waved his hands. The familiar red light appeared out of his ring and he was about to attack Jongho with it.

Then Jongho felt a huge push as he was shoved onto the ground. 'I guess this is it' he thought. But he didn't feel anything weird, only this terrible pain where he hit the ground and a weight on his chest. He opened his eyes.

'Sorry man, I had to.' It was none other than Chan laying on top of him. He pushed him out of the way of wizard's spell. As they sat up, they saw an actual bear cub next to them, while Kai was crying of laughter in the coverage of the castle's walls.

'Daaaaaaad, what happened to meee??' They could easily recognize Omen's screeching voice coming from the bear. It was easy to guess that as Chan pushed Jongho, the spell attacked Omen, who was unfortunately standing nearby.

'You'll regret this!' shouted Rothbart. Jongho laughed.

'Wow, Yeosang was right, your vocabulary really consists only of this' he said as he felt a bitter taste saying Yeosang's name. But he had to stay strong. He had to help the elves and the fairies defeat Rothbart. He owed Yeosang this now. Then they heard the sound of a horse galloping. 'Mingi' whispered Jongho.

Unfortunately Rothbart heard it.

'MINGI? What is he doing here? What is happening?' He turned around and laid eyes on the carriage with the fairy, the elves and Yeosang in it. 'They are trying to save him! I won't let them!' He turned into a hawk and started flying.

'DAAAAD!' Omen cried out in his bear cub form. Rothbart simply acted like he didn't hear his child and followed Mingi. Jongho looked back at Omen, then he saw the prince of an overseas kingdom from afar.

'Are you thinking what I'm thinking?' asked Chan. Jongho nodded.

'That's far enough, it will do. Hey, Mark, don't you want a bear cub to take home?'
