Chapter 20 - Proposal

Jongho was standing in the ball room, searching the crowd for his one and only Yeosang. Since the windows were towards the east, he couldn't make out whether the sun had already set down or not. He saw Chan and Kai talking to some other people.

'Jongho, darling' his mother stopped in front of him. 'I know your lover is coming soon, but don't be rude, please, dance with some young ladies or gentlemen till he arrives.'

Jongho thought for a second, then bowed towards the queen.

'May I have this dance, my beautiful young lady?' His mother laughed from her heart and accepted his hand.

They waltzed around for a few minutes, then another man, who Jongho recognized as the king of a neighboring kingdom, asked his mother for a dance. Jongho stood there for a second, then he saw some familiar faces and walked up to them. He patted the man's shoulder, who was standing with his back towards him. The blonde turned around.

'Would you like to dance with me, Mr Lee?' he held his hand out. The man laughed out in his deep voice.

'Sorry, but he is my partner' stopped a shorter man next to them.

'Hey, Changbin' smiled Jongho. 'How are you guys doing? When's the wedding?'

'Not anytime soon' shook his head Changbin. 'Felix's parents are quite against it.'

'Oh my, I'm sorry' said Jongho. Felix waved it off.

'Doesn't matter. Maybe we'll run away' they smiled at each other with Changbin knowingly. 'But what about you? I heard that our little Jongho is about to propose to someone!' said Felix excitedly.

'Really?!' exclaimed Changbin.

'I'm not little' pouted Jongho. 'You're like a month older than me, Felix. And who told you that?'

'A month is still a month. Also, it was Kai, who else?' Then something caught Felix's eye. 'Chan!!'

'Mateeee' they heard Chan's voice as the two old friends fell into each other's arms. Jongho chuckled and Changbin rolled his eyes smiling. Whenever those two met up, it was always like a comedy show to the others.

Jongho then looked up and caught his breath. He saw Yeosang with someone, probably his father, enter the room.

'Remember, just don't say a word' whispered Rothbart to Omen. His child raised a brow.

'Why?' they asked loudly in their annoying ass screeching voice. Rothbart cringed.

'Just don't. Then we can go through with the plan.'

Then they entered the ball room. Jongho was quick to see Omen - pardon, Yeosang in his and everyone's eyes - and walked up to them. Then he bowed and asked the boy for a dance, which he accepted and they started dancing.

Yeosang was flying high above the village he grew up in, where he didn't catch people's attention. He could already see the castle from that high, and he gave in all his strength to fly faster.

He lost all his energy by the time he reached the castle and tried to find a window where he can enter. Unluckily for him, the windows were all closed. He realized he had to either stay outside till the sun goes down and he turns into his human form, or risk going inside the castle, where the guards will most likely shoot him and he'll be the next meal. He looked inside the ball room.

'Oh no' he whispered as he spotted Prince Jongho dancing around with... with himself. The difference was that this Yeosang was wearing a necklace which was cursed and behind the surface he was actually Omen.

'Yeosang...' he could hear Jongho's voice as the music stopped. 'I know this is sudden and a lot to take in. We just met each other but it feels like I've known you for my whole life. I've never felt this way towards anyone... What I want to ask is... Will you marry me?'

Everyone gasped in the room. 'No...' Yeosang whispered again, feeling tears piercing his eyes. There was no chance for the sun to go down before this nightmare happens. But he was already too late.

Rothbart walked towards Jongho, hiding behind Yeosang's father's mask. Yeosang sobbed but nobody heard it. He felt helpless as he sat on the window sill.

'Your Highness' Rothbart bowed. 'I overheard what you just asked and I just wanted to make sure. Do you love my son?'

'Yes' Jongho smiled. 'I love your son with all my heart.'

Yeosang gasped as he felt the light in the crystal die. He felt a sudden push by a higher power and helplessly collapsed from the high window onto the ground into unconsciousness.

A/N: This story is soon coming to an end~
I couldn't get it from the movie whether it was only Daniel (Jongho) who saw Odille (Omen) as Odette (Yeosang) or everybody else was tricked too, so I decided to make it like everyone saw them as Yeosang because it was easier for me. Also sorry for the horrible proposal, I myself always cringe at proposing scenes in movies/books lol
