DEVINITY SINCLAIR WEAVED HER WAY THROUGH THE HALLS OF WEST HAM HIGH WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE AND HER SMALL PURSE CLUTCHED IN HER HAND. She moved past groups of stragglers on her way to the school auditorium, many of them having been just as late to the play as she had.

Devyn could tell by the way the auditorium lights were off and the few stragglers, who she assumed to be late parents, speed-walked into the auditorium to claim the last of whatever decent seats were left that the play had long started before she'd even arrived. The girl, however, wasn't, at all, bothered by this. She'd only chosen to show her face as this would be another opportunity for her to hang out with her boyfriend and his jock friends.

"Hi, Devyn," A girl to the right of her greeted as she walked past. The girl had been wearing workout clothes and had a duffel bag slung over her shoulder, which was a good indication to Devyn that cheer practice had ended not too long before. Either that or, she'd lingered to catch some of the play on its big night.

Devyn was quick to respond with a simple "hey" and a smile as she continued on, just a few doors down from the auditorium.

"Hey, Devyn." This time it's been a male voice, a familiar one too.

She turned to see that it was a familiar-looking boy. A classmate. The boy was a brunette with beautifully-tanned skin and brown eyes. He stood glued to his locker which was filled to the brim with pre-stuffed candy bags that were going for five dollars a pop. There was a decent crowd in his area. The hungry teens, no doubt, held the intention to buy whatever the boy had been selling.

"Hi, Eli," Devyn greeted. She recognized the boy from home room and a senior English class they shared for the semester.

West Ham high had discontinued concession stands for every event that wasn't sports-related years before. Students, like Eli, often capitalize on that fact at school plays, debates, and even during passing periods. However, unlike Eli, very few people were careful enough to avoid detection from staff. And while it wasn't treated as major enough an offence for expulsion, a week-long, in-school suspension was the punishment that these illegal vendors faced for getting caught. Eli hadn't had to worry about that in his four years at West Ham high because, as he often boasted, he was much smarter than the competition. A future entrepreneur, to be sure.

As the girl continued through the hall, her mere presence earned her more greetings and stares. If Devyn was being honest, she didn't even know most of their names, but they, somehow, knew her. Maybe it was because of her very active role on the yearbook or even had something to do with her boyfriend. Her sweet, popular, football-loving boyfriend. Devyn didn't know why, but she rarely gave it much thought. It didn't matter to her as much as other people thought it should have. All she could have asked for was Grizz, whether he was this tall, hot, football jock or not.
