DEVYN WINCED AS A BRIGHT LIGHT BURNED HER TIRED EYES. The girl stirred a bit, covering her eyes from the light and yawning out of fatigue. She squinted her eyes, attempting to see out of the window across from her, though her sight was a bit hindered in the dark.

"Change of plans. Rock slides, the road is closed. You're back home," The bus driver announced from the driver's seat. His tone held a bit of annoyance, which Devyn could easily interpret even as she was just waking up.

All around her, her peers let out loud groans of disbelief and disappointment.

Devyn's brows furrowed in both confusion and annoyance. After all of that, they were back home. What a waste of time. "You have got to be kidding me," The girl mumbled, shifting in her seat. That's when she noticed the tall figure that was laying in her lap. The figure took up the majority of the bench, forcing the girl to lean against the window. The boy was hugging her waist so tight, it was almost as if he thought she'd disappear if he let her go. Devyn sadly smiled, running a hand through her sleeping boyfriend's hair. "Grizz," The girl cooed, nudging her boyfriend awake. The boy stirred a bit, groaning at the bright light hitting his eyes. "Baby, get up, we're back home."

This seemed to wake the boy up. He slowly sat up, his handsome face displaying complete and utter confusion. "What?"

"Roads are closed, I guess," Devyn said, standing from her seat. She stretched her arms over her head, groaning in satisfaction at the feeling of her bones crack and a small breeze on her stomach.

Grizz followed close behind her, carrying both of their backpacks as they all filed out of the bus. Stepping down into the grass, Devyn saw that the quad was now empty. None of their parents had come to pick them up.

"Looks like we're walking tonight," Devyn mumbled as Grizz intertwined his fingers with hers. The girl was a bit annoyed that they'd have to walk home, but she'd just accepted that fact with grace. Camille Sinclair would usually pop a muscle relaxer or two when she knew she had a day off the next morning. If the siblings even managed to get a hold of their mother, she'd be too far gone to even pull herself out of bed.

"Doesn't look like anyone was expecting us," Cassandra says, wondering out loud.

The students were quickly ushered off the busses by the drivers who hadn't even moved an inch from their drivers' seats. The students all wore similar looks of confusion. Leighanne exchanged a look with Devyn who only shrugged. The situation did rub the girl the wrong way, but there was no reason for her to think anything was off just yet.

Without a second thought or even a glance towards the crowd of teens, the drivers closed their doors, pulling off before anyone could even process what was going on. The Seniors and Juniors were now without rides home, stuck standing in the quad in the middle of the night.

Everyone pulled out their phones, presumably to contact their families and tell them that the trip had been canceled and they were stuck in the middle of the quad, unwilling to start the long trek home. Though, it didn't seem like anyone was having any luck getting through to anyone.
