Desolation

*authors note*
First of all, this is long over due, and I am sooooo sorry. I haven't had time to write and I am trying really hard to. Lots of stuff happening right now in my life, good and bad, but I am going through and fixing parts of the story but by bit. I want to go from the beginning and add a bit more in, but that's going to take a while. I'll tell you when that is done so you can re-read and it will be amazing. But for now. Here is the first chapter of the last part of my story. I hope you enjoy and please vote for my story and comment. I LOVE when you guys comment!! Thank you!

*Fili's POV*
Laketown was in panic. People ran to find their families, and try to get away before Smaug destroyed them all. Tauriel watched as the dragon ascended apon the town. People screamed as she walked back into Bards' home.
"We have no time, we must leave."
"Come on brother." I said helping Kili up. He pulled away saying,
"I'm fine, I can walk by myself." He was angry. I wanted to help him. How I with Ledia was alive. The little glimmer of hope I had for her was all I had to hold on to to keep me alive. We all gathered our weapons and things and loaded ourselves into a boat. I watched Smaug flying low, almost teasing and mocking us as people screamed. He flew around before he breathed fire covering a quarter of the town in flames. He came around again, almost hitting our boat. Our boat was struck by the mayors boat. He was escaping with piles of gold. His greed disgusted me. Smaug continued to destroy the town. People ran as their houses fell around them.

*Ledia's POV*
We all stood there in horror as Laketown burned. Tears continued to roll down my face.
"Poor souls" Balin muttered. No one reacted.

*Fili's POV*
We continued to drift as the town burned around us. Bards children screamed as we looked up bard stood at the top of the bell tower shooting arrows at the dragon.
"He hit it! He hit the dragon!" My brother yelled.
His excitement was short lived as Tauriel told him it was not the right arrow. Bain grabbed a hook and got off of the boat. We all screamed after him. We watched as Bard and Bain almost were taken by Smaug. They managed to stay on the tower. Smaug turned to Bard and spoke to him. Bard took the last Arrow and placed it on his sons shoulder and aimed at his weak spot. They waited until he was very close them shot Smaug. It hit him in the perfect spot. Smaug yelled in agony, knocking the tower the two heroes stood apon. The dragon crashed, taking the down down. He tried to fly away but died mid air, falling into the town.

*Ledia's POV*
"What was that?" A large crash had happened from the distance.
"It fell, I saw it." Bilbo said walking to the edge of the cliff. We all got up to see. The town was ablaze but Smaug was no where to be seen.
"It's dead, Smaug is dead." Bilbo said excited. We watched as birds flew back to our home. We all celebrated and cheered. I glanced over and saw Thorin walking towards the gates of our home.

*3rd POV*
The survivors of Laketown landed ashore. Looking for the survivors of their families. Screaming for the loss of some of the others. Everyone was helping drag the dead out of the water, salvaging what little they had that wasn't destroyed. The dwarfs all piled into a boat to be reunited with their family and home. Kili was last. He spoke to Tauriel. Legolas showed up. She spoke in Elfish to him. She did not join Kili. He gave her the rock he had carried since he was a child.
"Keep it, as a promise." He said joining his brother in the boat. Tauriel wept as she watched him row away.

The dwarfs arrived at the lonely mountain. Seeing the destruction Smaug had done, they ran to see if their family survived. Yelling their names they searched. They heard Bilbo shout.
But their greeting was not what they expected.
"You need to leave," Bilbo said out of breath, "we all need to leave."
He explained to the group what Thorin was up to. His sickness consuming him to the point of not eating or sleeping. Fili ran down, the other followed. The huge piles of gold coving everywhere. They stood staring, Thorin walked among the gold. He seemed in a daze, speaking unlike his usual self.
Soon after they were reunited with their fellow dwarfs. They all hugged, happy to see each other. Fili looked around. He didn't see Ledia.
"Where is she?" He turned to Balin.
"She has been ill this morning. She is resting now." The others glanced at Balin. He looked back at them.
"What kind of illness?" he asked as Balin walked him and the new arrivals to where she was.
"I am not sure." he said after a bit of a pause. They entered a room where Ledia sat in a window, looking out.
"Ledia?" Fili said rushing to her.
She turned and cried as he picked her up and embraced her. He put her down and held her face.
"What is the matter?" He asked worried.
"Nothing now. I must have been worried sick. I have been sick for a few days now." She looked over at Balin. Kili ran over and hugged her. The others joined and hugged her. They talked about what had happened while the others were gone.
A few days passed. Ledia continued to be sick in the mornings, but was fine after. Fili hardly left her side, worrying about her.
