Melissa, Katherine, Phoenix, and Rhett are all wearing casual outfits and ready for the festival. "Okay, it's almost dusk. Let's get to the center of town before it gets all crowded." Rhett exclaims with a bit of excitement in his voice. The 4 of them walk into town and all of the streets are decorated with moons and stars and meteors, star-shaped cakes and desserts, meteor-shaped lanterns, and reserved sitting areas. "So, do guys remember when Katherine came and soon after I left?" Rhett begins.
"Yeah, and you wouldn't tell us what you were doing because it was 'a big secret'," Phoenix replied. "Well, I was getting us-" Rhett reveals 4 Reserved Sitting Area tickets. "How'd you get these?" Melissa questioned, taking her ticket from Rhett. "A guy has his ways," Rhett explains secretly. "Let's go get our spot." The 4 of them walk to the Reserved Sittings Area Gate where a police officer is waiting for them. "Tickets?" The officer asked. They hand him their tickets and he unlocks the gate, and let's them through. Rhett takes his friends to a spot under a gazebo. "You must have gotten a good deal off of these tickets." Melissa states as she sits down, next to Phoenix. "I did." Rhett states, sitting next to Katherine.
A few hours later, Rhett gets a call. "Um...I need to take this. I'll be back...later." Rhett muttered. "Okay...Bye?" Melissa states, suspiciously. Rhett gets up and leaves.
"Okay, he's hiding something. 100%." Melissa states. "Mel... Don't mess around in his personal business. He has a reason for everything that he does and it's all for us. If he has something that he needs to tell us, he will on his own terms." Phoenix warns. "I wasn't going to!" Melissa exclaims. "Melissa, I've known you for how long?" Phoenix asked."15 years..." Melissa answered, quietly. "Um, where's Katherine?" Phoenix asked. Melissa looks at her side nervously and doesn't see Katherine. "We need to find her. If we don't...that's bad news for us and her." Phoenix hesitates. "Alright, let's split up. I'll go to the apartment. You can check in the crowd. Meet me at the river in 30 minutes." Phoenix commands. The two of them split up and start looking for Katherine. Phoenix goes into the apartment and sees Rhett. Rhett turns his attention to Phoenix. "Nix, are you alright?" Rhett questioned with concern. "We can't find Katherine." Phoenix confesses. Rhett looks at his phone, then back up to Phoenix. "Do you know the powers she asked for earlier today?" Rhett asked as the two of them left the apartment. "No, in fact we didn't even ask." Phoenix replied."...We have to find her. Like now." Rhett says, uneasily. "I'll check the town." Phoenix states. "I'll check the park." Rhett says. "If you find her, call me or Mel. Meet us at the river in 20 minutes." Phoenix commands. "Got it. I'll try calling her once I get to the park." Rhett uttered. Phoenix nods in agreement and the two of them go their separate ways.
Once Rhett arrived at the park, he decided to call Katherine and after the 3rd ring she picked up. "Hi, Brett." Katherine answered. "Hold on, did you just call me 'Brett'?" Rhett questioned, still looking around the park. "Sorry, my mind is...somewhere else." Katherine confessed. "Where did you hear that name? You know what it doesn't matter right now. Where are you?" Rhett asked. "At the park, sitting by the lake." Katherine answers. "Okay, stay there I'm coming." Rhett says, walking towards the lake. "Okay." Katherine says, while running her hand through the water. They both hang up and in about 5 minutes Rhett sees Katherine sitting by the lake. A second later, she looks up at him and smiles. "You okay?" Rhett asked, sitting next to her."Mhm." Katherine replied, still running her hand through the water. "Why'd you leave the party?" Rhett asked.
"It got really personal. Now I have a question for you. Why'd you leave?" Katherine asked, looking into his eyes. Rhett looked away then looked back at her. "What power did you ask, when Chloe asked you in your interview?" Rhett questioned. "You're avoiding the question." Katherine says, while Rhett slightly laughs. Rhett grabs Katherine's hand. They both stare at each other for a moment. "I'm asking you because I need to know. I'm not avoiding the question." Rhett says, sincerely. "If you're not avoiding the question, go ahead and answer it." Katherine says with a smirk. "You know how to get your way don't you?" Rhett smiles. "Okay, I left because I got a call from my boss and she told me to grab something she left in our apartment, so I had to go and get it." Rhett explains. "Now..." Rhett runs his hand up and down Katherine's arm. Katherine holds Rhett's hand. "What power did you ask Chloe?" Rhett asked, quietly. "Ice/Snow, water, and beauty." Katherine confessed. "Why beauty?" Rhett asked. "I don't know. I've never had a healthy relationship." Katherine admitted. "Beauty isn't just what lies on the outside, but what lies on the inside." Rhett says, sympathetically. Rhett takes Katherine into his arms and holds her there for a few moments. Katherine wraps her arms around his neck. "Do you want me to teach you how to use your powers?" Rhett asked, pulling away, but still holding onto her waist. "Sure." Katherine replied. "Okay, I'll just call Mel and Nix and tell them we're here." Rhett says, while dialing Phoenix's number. "You know I really appreciate the 3 of you doing for me even though we only met several hours ago." Katherine thanks.
"Well, always know that we have your back...I'll always have your back." Rhett confessed.
