"Ugh, why does my head hurt so bloody much?" She groaned, covering her eyes with her palms, and gently pressing them against her eyelids. As she moved her arms, she felt that something was connected to them, and she also became aware of an annoying, steady beeping sound. "And can somebody shut the door to the fridge?" She mumbled sleepily.
Even without opening her eyes, she could feel the world spinning underneath her. Everything in her body hurt. Everything from her fingertips to her throat. Her muscles ached and she could hear her pulse beating in her ears, feel it thundering against her temples.
It was amazing how a body could hurt this much and still be alive.
Slowly, very slowly, she lowered her hands to her chest and opened her eyes. She blinked hard a couple of times, adjusting to the new light that flooded her vision. The room she was in wasn't even brightly lit. No, it was a dim light which was very comfortable for her sensitive eyes.
Why was she even in a room to begin with? She had no memory of going into a room at all. In fact, she couldn't really remember anything now that she racked her brain for any memories. Where was she? When was this? And what was going on?
It was as though her mind had been wiped blank.
The beeping sound in the background didn't help her concentration, but she needed to figure out where she was. So, she hoisted herself up into a sitting position and took a deep, steadying breath. "Okay, okay. You got this. You can figure this out." She mumbled to herself, looking around the room. Her muscles protested weakly against the movement, but she tried her best to ignore it.
The room wasn't big. Maybe around nine feet in both length and width, and honestly, it felt like she had been put inside of a shoebox. The interior was scarce, the bed she was sitting on was the only furniture in the room, if she didn't count the machine that was beeping steadily beside it. The walls were engraved in hexagonal shapes, and she had to admit that she liked the pattern quite a lot. One of the walls, however, wasn't covered in hexagons. It was instead covered in a big, floor-to-ceiling mirror.
With great effort, she pushed herself off the bed. As her feet hit the floor and she put weight on her legs, her knees wobbled for just a second before she managed to steady herself. The muscles in her back and neck protested, causing her to groan in pain. She was curious about the mirror, but she didn't manage more than a few steps before she was yanked backwards.
"Wha-" She began as she spun around, only to be met by the machine, whose beeping had increased slightly. Following the wires from it, she saw that multiple wires traced back to her, including an IV drip. She had no memories of getting connected to the heart monitor or getting a needle in her arm either. So, the question still remained; where the hell was she?
Without further ado, she ripped the wires off of her, although she let the IV drip remain. The lines on the screen flatlined and the beeping became consistent, indicating that her heart had stopped. "Oh, shut up." She grumbled, crouching down to pull the plug on it. She almost fell over while doing so, but she couldn't help but enjoy the quiet that settled over the room.
"Ah, finally. Silence." She sighed, massaging her temples as the ringing was still echoing in her head. Using the pole of the IV drip as a crutch, she once again trudged over to the mirror wall. She slowly put her finger on the blank surface, observing the reflection.
Just like she had suspected, her fingernail touched its reflection. Just to make absolutely sure that she was right, she knocked on the glass once. And of course, it sounded hollow. Which made her certain that it was, in fact, a two-way mirror.
"Okay, to whatever creep is watching me." She let her hand fall from the reflective surface and instead turned around to point at the camera in the corner of the room. "Come out, come out wherever you are. I do not appreciate being stared at while I'm unconscious, thank you very much." She drawled, staring into the camera with a challenging look on her face.
