!!Trigger warning!! : Intrusive thoughts, thoughts of self-h@rm, blood
(Y/N POV)
After promptly drinking myself into oblivion, I woke up on the bartop once more. I looked at my surroundings and down at the empty bottle next to me and began remembering the events of the night before. Vi was gone. Mylo was gone. Claggor was gone. Powder was gone. Hell, even Vander was gone. I didn't have a job, I didn't have friends, I had failed at the one responsibility Vander gave me before he died, and what had I done about it? I got blackout drunk.
I picked up the bottle and threw it across the room. Really smart, Y/N, now you have more mess to clean up. That's when the tears came. I didn't even notice at first until I was fully sobbing into my hands. I felt like my life was over. Everything I knew was gone. I walked over and began scooping up the glass with my hands. I looked down at a particularly large shard and picked it up. I thought about how my life was after Viktor left. How miserable I was. What I did to cope. Maybe I could... no. That journey took me nowhere. The recovery was absolutely horrid, like the worst rehab ever. It wasn't worth it. I had to push through.
I heard footsteps behind me.
I froze momentarily and held the shard of glass tightly in my palm. Who the hell would be in here at this hour? Well, with news of Vander's death spreading like wildfire, I was sure there were thieves running towards The Last Drop as I was sitting there. There was probably one right behind me. Blindly, I stood up quickly and pinned the intruder to the wall, shard of glass at their throat. "What the hell do you think you're doing in here," I hissed at the person in my grip.
It was a man. A man with grey scars running down the left side of his face, dipping over his ruined eye. An eye of pitch black with a vermillion iris. He was unlike anything I'd ever seen. I looked him up and down and noticed he was dressed in relatively fancy attire. He couldn't have possibly been a common thief. He chuckled deeply as he looked into my eyes. "This bar and its accommodations now belong to me." I blinked in surprise. "What??"
He tapped my arm to get me to let go of him, but I stood my ground. I looked him dead in the eyes. "Who. Are. You." He smirked. "Your mistrust is well-placed," he spoke, "If I were in your position, I would react in the same manner." His voice was like velvet and sent a shiver down my spine. I stood firmly and pressed the glass further into his neck, still not enough to draw blood. "My name is Silco, I'm an... old friend of Vander's." I pressed the glass even further and he hissed in pain as a small bead of blood began to form on his neck. "You're the one who killed him, aren't you," I spoke with venom in my voice. He chuckled again and looked at me with amusement. "You catch on quickly, don't you? I would appreciate it if you would let go of me now." His tone changed with his last sentence. I narrowed my eyes at him, but if he could take down Vander, I was sure he had plenty of backup awaiting his command. I let go of him and backed away.
I watched as he walked past me and to the bar. He reached under the counter and grabbed a bottle of whiskey. He got a glass as well and placed it on the counter next to mine. He placed a few ice cubes in each glass and then filled the glasses with the whiskey. I raised an eyebrow as he gestured for me to sit. "Come now, no need to be frightened, I won't bite," he poked. I stood still and he sighed. "What's your name, dear," he asked. I thought for a moment before answering, "Y/N." He nodded slowly and took a sip of his drink. "Y/N..." he said it as though he were trying it out. He seemed satisfied with the result.
I sighed and finally walked over to sit at the bar. "So what exactly do you want," I asked before taking a drink. He walked around the bar and sat on my left. He moved his fingers around the rim of his glass. "I think I'll keep you on as bartender here, how does that sound?" I looked at him in shock. Why would he do that? I assumed he was going to kill me to cut loose ends. He seemed to notice my thought. He smiled to himself. "I like you, Y/N." I- what did he say? "You're strong-willed. I need people like you working for me." I stared at him like he had a fish on his head. "You'll be paid better than Vander was paying you. You'd like that, wouldn't you?" I continued to stare at him. I snapped myself out of my trance of confusion and thought up an answer. Everyone else I knew was gone, I needed a job, what else could I say? "Yes."
