When I wake up back in the hospital, I know I fucked up.

"I didn't think I'd see you so soon," the doctor says and I sigh.

I remember I fainted at the fast food in front of so many people... but why?

"Your friends carried you here. I've run some blood exams and you have extreme iron deficiency." He looks at the file in his hands.

"Have you not been eating enough?" he asks.

I remember that I quite neglected eating and my period has been very heavy lately.

"Am I pregnant?" I ask jokingly.

He smiles. "No, I'm sorry."

Nothing to be sorry about, doc.

"You are anemic and have chronic fatigue syndrome. You've not been eating the right nutrients for years, your diet is very poor, you've been having too much alcohol, drugs and emotional stress. If you keep it like this, you won't have a very long life, Veronica."

Oh...

"I prescribed a treatment for you. You will be released later tonight, don't worry. But you need to stop stressing your heart and eat healthy."

He hands me the file with the medicine I have to get. "No alcohol for three months and also follow a rich diet in iron."

"Okay," I respond exhausted.

Good, add onto the problems I already had. If there was a competition for how many illnesses someone can have, I'd win.

"I'll let you rest. They will bring you something to eat soon."

I nod and thank him.

When they come back with beans, spinach and other veggies, I almost faint again.

I haven't eaten healthy stuff in years but I am not particularly fond of spinach.

I eat everything just like the nurse told me and I lay back on the bed.

I am back in hospital once again... soon I'll have to get my residence here.

I'm so weak, I can't even last a day without dying.

I fall asleep with my stomach full, unlike never before.

"You have anemia?!" Nicole yells. "Girl, I thought it was gonna be something worse, I actually thought you were dying."

I choke out a laugh.

"I've been having anemia for years now, it's part of my identity," she jokes.

I've never seen her faint, though.

"You know you can't stay on campus anymore, right?" she says.

Also my mom has no idea I'm back in the hospital, and it's a small issue so she doesn't have to know.

"Why not? It happened while I was out not in the dorm."

"Because we can't be with you every second. I wish I could, for real, Ronnie. But you need constant care and attention."

"You making me feel like a child," I say jokingly.

Kind of.

"You'd do the same for me. I think you should drop out of the semester," she blurts out.
