"Go to your room," Derek says and I look at him confused.

"Why?!" I ask exasperated. Is he trying to hide a woman from me?

"Please go," he says softly as he lets go of my hand.

I don't want to listen to him but the heavy pounding on the door scares me, it could be anything... but clearly, he doesn't want that person to see me.

What if it's a woman? Derek is a free man. My intrusive thoughts are killing me.

A free man that I was about to kiss and God knows what else.

I close the door and I put my ear on it, trying hard to eavesdrop.

Derek opens the main door and I can only hear his voice. Then he closes it again and it's all silence.

Oh. He knew I'd be listening... he went outside to speak.

I stomp out of his bedroom and I tiptoe to the main door.

The closer I get the more I hear two male voices.

Derek and...

Cyprian.

That's the combo I would have never expected. Of course, he knew about my supposed lost twin but I didn't think he'd even talk to him.

Why is he talking to him behind my back? Does Cyprian know I'm here? I thought he was long gone.

I eavesdrop again but suddenly the door opens and it hits me in the nose.

"Ouch!" I yell as Derek closes the door and rushes to me.

"Why would you stand in front of the door?!" He sighs exasperatedly as he pulls away my hand from my nose to look at it.

"It's fine. But stop opening doors so aggressively," I say annoyed.

"I told you to stay in my room."

I roll my eyes. My nose barely hurts, luckily.

"Why were you talking to Cyprian?"

He puts his hand on his forehead as he goes to the cake. Right. The damn cake.

I'm not even hungry anymore.

"He just asked me about you. No one told him where you are staying and your mom is also worried."

I raise my eyebrows. "My mom knows I'm not in the dormitory anymore?!"

"Of course, she knows. Nicole told her the truth."

Little snitch.

Now I'm the one massaging my temples and pacing around. "Oh, hell, no."

It shouldn't be a big deal, my mom knows I wouldn't stop hanging out with Derek but I guess she wouldn't expect me to live with him.

I have to go home. This is getting too far.

And why the hell does my mom still keep in contact with Cyprian?

She can do whatever she wants but it's not fair when she could have done this years ago and saved me the pain.

Derek cuts two pieces of cake, one for me and him, but I refuse him.

I can't stay here anymore. I should be living with Nicole. Exams are so close and I'm here playing with my heart that somehow Derek still wants me. Those kisses shouldn't happen.

I go to my room and I start packing everything Nicole brought me.

I fold all my clothes and place them in the baggage. Then I go to the bathroom to bring my blow drier, toothbrush, and the rest.
