[a week later]

<Taehyung POV>

Jungkook refused to talk. After days of being locked up, he was still so stubborn. Taehyung went to visit him everyday but he could get nothing out of the enemy vampire. As expected, the questioning took a while, however Tae was not prepared for the impact the conversations would have on his nerves. He couldn't get Jungkook out of his head, he always felt the need to see him and be around him, it drove him crazy and yet every minute him was just pain. When the sun rises and it was time for him to sleep, everyday he would spiral down thinking about how to deal with this soulmate situation. He didn't tell anyone, and his friends noticed his change in behaviour and were clearly concerned.

"Maybe you just need a break Taehyung..." Seokjin said with a hint of worry in his eyes.

"Yeah, you're putting to much pressure on yourself ever since you became apprentice." Namjoon confirmed right after.

He knew they were both right but he couldn't help it or bring himself to calm down. I need to see him... They could never understand.

One morning like any other, when Taehyung was getting ready for bed, he heard a knock on his door. Could it be his parents?

"Come in" he says mindlessly, preparing his pillows.

"Hey... Can we talk?" Taehyung freezes; it was Seokjin.

"I was about to sleep" he replies dryly.

"I'm sorry..." Seokjin walks in anyways. "I'm just really worried about you, Tae... You're beating yourself up so much over this Jungkook guy... I think- Well.. Namjoon and I think you should stop seeing him and spend some time with us instead, take a break, just the three of us like we used to do... You need to get your mind off things" he explains, looking at the youngest with a hint of hope in his eyes.

Taehyung sighs. What if he was right? What if Jungkook was just draining him more than anything? What if that need to see him wasn't a real need, just his body acting up? He couldn't accept to have the slightest feelings for him. He'd rather be in total denial and reject any sort of feelings. I don't have a crush on this loser, I don't need him! I need a break...

"Alright, hyung. Tomorrow then. We can go at the lake" he replies after a moment of reflexion.

Seokjin smiles and agrees. There was something so reassuring about him, Taehyung sure was glad to have him as a friend. He knew he could count on him and Namjoon for anything. He returns his smile and wishes him a good sleep before watching him watching him leave. This time, Taehyung fell asleep a bit more easily; he had something to look forward to that wasn't about Jungkook and it made him feel much better.

The next night, Taehyung got up later and took his time to rest, then got ready to go meet his two friends. He took the liberty to catch a bird for breakfast on the way while enjoying the refreshing wind that he missed for a week. It felt so nice to be out again!

"Over here!" calls out a voice; it was Namjoon, who was waving at him from the side of the lake. Taehyung smiles brightly and joins them. Seokjin was already in the water and splashed Taehyung as soon as he was close enough, smirking playfully.

"You're late, you sleepy bear!" he says jokingly.

"Well- Um.. Maybe you were just early!" Taehyung replies, getting ready to splash him back.

"Either way, you're last" adds Namjoon after undressing and before jumping into the water, making big waves.

The three of them laugh and Taehyung joins them in the cool water, goofing around with his hyungs. This is nice... He felt grateful and happy. He felt lighter and carefree. It was the best he felt in a while and this little night out is just what he needed. Jungkook can wait, screw him, it's not as if he cared about the bond at all anyways. Taehyung cared too much, on the other hand, and this distraction was just what he needed.

"Kim Taehyung!" says a hurried voice, coming suddenly from behind the trees making the three of them jump. Taehyung turns around in surprise; it was a guard from his clan. He looked panicked and out of breath like he ran all the way here. "I have been searching all over for you!"

"What's the matter?" Taehyung asks him with worry, imagining another attack.

"It's the Jeon prisoner, sir..." Oh no... "He escaped. He is probably still on the territories, I came to find you as soon as I could!"

How?? How could he have possibly escaped the one day Taehyung ignores him? The one day he decides to enjoy himself, something goes wrong, how?

Namjoon and Seokjin both exchange a worried look as Taehyung rushes out of the water, grabbing his clothes on the way, running to the castle as fast as he could. How dare he? How dare he escape? I wasn't done asking him things! What if I never see him again?

An unexplainable worry and feeling of betrayal took over Taehyung. He should be angry at him, but he could only feel worried about him for some reason. He felt betrayed and backstabbed, he even felt a little sad. This proves Jungkook really did not care one bit about Taehyung. He didn't care at all, and it hurt. It hurt a lot... more than it should have. As he ran home, Tae felt his chest get heavy, his heart felt like a knot, his eyes were getting a little wet too... Now's not the time to cry! He frowns in anger as the feeling of betrayal and unfairness take over his worry. All he wanted was to prove Jungkook wrong, to prove he was worth looking at. Please look at me, give me a chance! No... He should hate him. But I can't... I just can't help it... The internal conflict was unbearable. Would it be disloyal to his clan to have feelings for the enemy? Would it hurt more if he pushed them away to put his duty first? Taehyung was teared. On top of that, he was so angry that he was the only one feeling that way. He hated that he cared about Jungkook so much. He hated that he was the only one suffering from it. It drove him crazy for a week. I bet he had fun teasing me, driving me nuts... And now he was gone. There was no one to give him answers, nothing he left behind. Screw you Jungkook! Come back to me...

Running through the trees, lost in thoughts, it took Taehyung a few minutes to realize he almost reached the castle. Finally... He rushes inside only to see multiple guards running around in panic. Some of them were ready to patrol outside while others were looking inside the castle. I need to get ready and join them. Taehyung runs up to his room, locking the door behind him, and looks through his closet for his fighting outfit, just in case. It was more comfortable to move in anyways.

As he undresses to get changed, he notices a strange feeling in the room, like a presence. Someone was here... He could feel it. The window was open, which isn't usually the case as Taehyung is sensitive to the cold air and usually keeps it closed. Hesitantly, tensing up, he steps towards the window to close it, walking slowly, focusing on any sound that could come from outside. He looks down the window and sees nothing. Strange... Carefully, he closes the it and locks it.

"Hey."

A sudden voice coming from behind him made him jump. This voice was all too familiar... Taehyung stood there for a few seconds, not moving, not daring to turn around and face him.

"Um... Sorry for scaring you..."

Seriously? Taehyung turns around and faces Jungkook, who was standing there in the middle of his room. Shit...
