4 - Sacred Bond

<Jungkook POV>

"You must find it. Now that you are an apprentice, the hardest part of the plan is out of the way. The power is in your hands, son, all you need is that damn artefact!"

Jungkook listens to his father quietly. He knows all he has to do is nod. It has now been 6 years that he has been looking for the Dragon Bracelet as his father demanded. He watches the older vampire mumble to himself as he looks through his history books. 

"It must be somewhere near the mountains on the Kim territories. It must be! Don't just stand there, help me!" he snaps. 

Jungkook flinches a little and hurries to help his father gather his notes. He was a little scary when he was angry. His father wasn't always like that, but ever since he lost his wife, Jungkook's mother, all he wants is revenge. Power is all he seeks. Destruction is his goal. He pushed his son to be the strongest vampire of the clan so he could get his revenge through him. Jungkook knew he was just his father's tool, but he went along anyways. He also wanted revenge. 

Jungkook's mother was from a different race of creature; she was an elf. One of the prettiest and warmest elves to be. Elves and vampires were at peace for a long time, but one day, during a complicated battle that involved werewolves, the entire elf race was destroyed. Jungkook's father begged for her to stay and he swore to protect her, but her duty to protect her land and people was stronger, at the cost of her life... She never came back. Jungkook never saw his father smile again. He stayed quiet and distant for decades while the maids were taking care of Jungkook like an orphan. One day, when his powers manifested, his father realised his son's potential and elaborated a plan to get revenge; to make his son the leader of the clan so he could unite all clans and rule over all vampires to eradicate werewolves. Even if that meant sacrificing their own people's lives. 

All Jungkook wanted was to make his father feel better. Ever since his father started setting up this plan, he felt nothing but hate for all other clans and races. He feels ready. He knows this is a dangerous and risky plan, but he will do anything to get those monsters. For 6 years now, he has been searching for this artefact that gives whoever wears it the power to control and generate fire. With that, he would be unstoppable. Nothing will make him stop or stand in his way. Even his classmates knew not to cross him. He was feared, and he liked it that way. No one could understand why he was doing that. No one could understand the pain of watching a father slowly fall into despair and the agony of losing a mother. No one. 

"Tell me, son, what did you learn from the ceremony? Any important information we can get on the leaders or apprentices? Did you take notes as I told you?"

"No need father. I remember well."

His father scoffs, unconvinced. 

"I told you this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. You better not screw this up" he says drily. 

Jungkook sighs...

"The Min leader doesn't seem very strong but he looks smart. The Park leader could be a potential obstacle but I am sure I can handle him. As for the Kim leader... He won't be a problem whatsoever."

"What did I say about underestimating the enemy?" he snaps with a clenched jaw, frustrated at his son's attitude. Jungkook looks away, trying to keep a straight face.

"He literally fainted, father. Besides, he's just a Beta, how could he-"

"WHAT?!" Jungkook jumps at the sudden change in tone. His father looks up into his eyes with anger. The young vampire steps back instinctively.

"H-He's just a Beta...?" he repeats hesitantly.

" 'Just' a Beta?? Do you have any idea how rare they are or what this means? He could ruin our plans!" 

Jungkook stares at his father pacing around the room, confused. He isn't afraid of that boy who literally fainted as soon as he looked at him. Why was his father so upset suddenly? 

"Father... H-He won't be a problem I will make sure of it, I prom-" he starts hesitantly before being interrupted. 

"Enough! You have no idea what you're talking about! Betas cannot be leaders! Do you know what this means? He could be much stronger than you think! Stronger than you!"

Jungkook clenches his fists. This can't be true. No one is stronger than the Jeon clan, and no one in that clan can beat him. That makes him the strongest vampire in all clans. How could he defeat him? No way! 

"Leave me." his father suddenly says. "I want to be alone." 

Here we go again... Isolating himself. 

"Yes, father..." Jungkook mumbles before walking out of his father's office. 

He could feel his blood boiling in his veins as the anger and frustration slowly took over him. A simple Beta as useless as this idiot can not get in the way of his plans. He can not slow him down! Maybe I should investigate on him more, to see what he's capable of... Maybe I should get closer to him so I can break him more easily.
