[TW: fighting, blood]
As soon as Jungkook said those words, he flew up a few meters into the air with one powerful flap. His eyes turned a bright green and he started bombarding Taehyung with fire balls, in hopes he would avoid them. Luckily, Taehyung used his lightning speed to zigzag through the attack and with one jump he propulsed himself to Jungkook's height to punch his face. His eyes were a bright purple and electricity was flowing through his entire body; nothing could stop him. Jungkook takes the punch and kicks Tae right back, aiming for his abdomen, sending him right down to the floor. With a groan of surprise and pain, Tae lands on his back with a ground-breaking force. Jungkook knew it wasn't enough to stop a vampire, especially one with the potential to become a leader. As expected, Taehyung slowly gets up, a streak of blood running down his forehead. Jungkook felt so guilty for hurting the face of his soulmate, a face he fell in love with in his dreams... But he had to keep going. While Tae was getting it together, he glanced towards Suni and Aesoo fighting aggressively. Looks like these two will be at it for a while... Then he looks for his father, who was no where to be seen. I have to go look for him...
"Where do you think you're going coward?!" yells Taehyung as Jungkook was about to fly away. He seemed even angrier than before. His will to fight was stronger too. His fists became balls of electricity ready to punch his enemy, the veins in his body were slightly glowing with a purple light, like the lighting was now a part of him. It's like he was going easy on Jk at first and was now serious. Damn it...
Before Jungkook could even make a choice whether to keep fighting his soulmate or find his father, Taehyung had already started to act. In a split second, he teleported in a flashing zap right behind Jungkook and with both hands together he punches him as hard as he can towards the ground. The hit was impossible to avoid and Jungkook crashes down on the soil below them. He felt pain in his entire body and for a second it felt like he was about to pass out but as soon as he opened his eyes he could see Taehyung running at him with another attack. Quickly, Jungkook decides to use his powers and makes it seem like he flew back up in the sky to distract Taehyung while he gathers himself. It worked. Taehyung looks up at the illusion and follows it to hit it with a strike of lightning but it only takes him a second to realize the trick Jungkook pulled on him. He looks back where the elf was lying but he was gone. Taehyung angrily looks around for the elf, expecting an attack from any direction but no sign of him. Where the hell are you?!
A sudden flapping sound over him catches his attention but a bit too late... Jungkook was right above him and threw a large fire ball straight at Tae. His eyes widen in surprise at the sudden attack and he freezes. He raises his hands to try and protect himself, knowing deep down this reflex won't save him. Maybe this was it, he was meant to lose to Jungkook. Maybe he wasn't strong enough in the first place which is why he took advantage of him. What was I thinking? What was I- Wait... Why am I not dead? Hesitantly, Tae opens his eyes to realize the fire ball had gone through him. An illusion... Jungkook was still up there with a guilty and concerned look, like he's just been caught.
Then, it hit him. He understood the elf was only faking his attacks since he beginning. But why? Am I not good enough for him to fight? Am I not worth it? Am I that useless and pathetic in his eyes? Taehyung was ready to yell at him, to scream out the pain of his soulmate caring even less about him than he thought, Jungkook quickly flaps away out of guilt. Where does he think he's going?
"I'm not done with you!" Tae screams as tears were forming in his eyes and he starts running full speed after the elf.
Jungkook gives him a few glances and realizes that the Beta is gradually catching up to him. Before he knows it, Tae jumps at him and pins him to the ground.
"Why do you see me like nothing?! You just use me and leave and then when I fight you you still play around?! Why can't you take me seriously?! I might be your enemy but I'm still your soulmate Jungkook!" He screamed those last words with everything he had, pouring all his emotions out as he teared up in anger. Jungkook stared at him blankly, unable to find a reply in the moment. He knew he hurt Tae but he was misunderstanding... Could he even understand at all? If he tries to explain his story, would he look at him the same as before or resent him?
"I... I didn't want to lose you... I was scared... I had to finish my mission but I never wanted to hurt you..."
"Screw that! What mission could be worth all of this?! Look around! Look!"
Jungkook looks around at the battle still happening around them. Vampires were fighting mercilessly, there was loud sounds from weapons clashing, colours flashing whenever one used their power, screams of pain and anger.
"Is this what you wanted?!"
Jungkook was speechless. No... It wasn't... All he wanted was to escape from all this with Taehyung. All he wanted was his mother and father back. All he wanted was to make things better just for a little. But he failed and just made everything worse. He felt so guilty.
"I-I'm sorry..." he says softly as his voice breaks. "There was n-no other way... I couldn't stop it, Taehyung, I wanted to but I couldn't!"
Taehyung stared at him for a while. When he saw the elf tearing up and heard the broken tone of his voice, he softened his look a little. He was still angry enough to put some sense into him.
"The only way for what Jungkook? There is ALWAYS a choice! Always!"
"I just wanted my parents back... And then I wanted you too... But I couldn't make a choice, it was made for me!"
Tears slowly fall down his cheeks as he looks deep into Tae's eyes.
"I'm sorry... I really am... I wish there was another way... I wish I wasn't scared of my own leader, I wish my father wasn't crazy for revenge, I wish my mother had never died, I wish I wasn't a coward who ran away from you instead of protecting you and stopping this! I wish I could just make things right but I can't!"
Taehyung looks at him quietly. He could tell this wasn't an act and the Alpha was being honest. It made more sense now why the Jeons wanted the bracelet and why Jungkook seemed constantly scared deep down. It's because he was. He was scared of losing what he had left and messing up so he went with the flow. It was hard to blame him after what he's been through... At that point, the anger inside of Taehyung was slowly fading away.
"So... You don't think I'm just a toy or something?" he asks softly.
"No! Never... You have no idea how much you mean to me, Tae..." he replies.
They look into each other's eyes quietly for a moment. Now the truth was out. Taehyung understood why the boy was so conflicted but he had to show him there was another way.
"Jungkook..." he starts after a moment of silence. "I understand... I can't forgive you just yet but I understand. I want you to know it doesn't have to end like this... There is another way, other than war, there is a way to stop this, but only you can. Your mother is gone for good, unfortunately... Nothing can bring her back, even revenge. It would only make you and the Jeons murderers. You have to understand that... It's not what she would have wanted... And only you can stop what has started."
The elf stayed quiet. He listened to his soulmate and realized he was right... His mother wouldn't want the people she loved to turn into murderers. She wouldn't want a war.
"You're right." he says with a sudden determination. "I have to stop this."
He slowly stands up despite his wounds and limps towards the crowd to find his father. Walking through the battle, miraculously avoiding everyone, he finally spots him.
"Father!" he calls loudly, catching his attention. "We need to talk. This has to stop."
