So this was going to be interesting. They each got eight pieces of wood and they were going to see who can build the tallest and strongest building in ten minutes. The building had to stand for two minutes and would be measured with a ruler. Here were the rules:
1) You can only use 1 foot of string.
2) You can't go near the other person's building.
3) If you knock down the other person's building, that person wins.
4) You can only use the given materials.
5) No other forms of cheating.

This was going to be very interesting. I knew Jason was good at building, but I have never seen Cara build before. I got to do the timing. Thankfully I had gloves and socks on...or she would see the curse. "Ready, set, go!" I yelled. They were off. I watched the timer. They had ten minutes. I saw Cara building very fast, but Jason wasn't as fast. Jason's seemed more stable though.

The contest went on. I was sure Cara would win though. She was stood. No wonder she chose this contest. I looked at the time. They had three minutes left. Two minutes. One minute. And then was the strength test. They both made it. I pulled out the ruler. Cara's was a foot and 8 inches high. I measured Jason's. It was a foot and eight and a half inches tall. He won. I cheered and hugged him. "You won," Cara said, "You can have the pearl." She went inside and got it. "Here. Take good care of it," she said.

Take good care of it. We sure would. We put it in a case and made sure it won't roll. Jason started driving back to our town. On the way, I heard the fight. I realized everything that had happened. A lot. This would be a story everyone would want to hear. I remembered everything. I took off a glove and looked at my hand. I hoped I could break my curse. Then I wondered who did it to me. "Who put the curse on me?" I asked Jason. "The mayor did for both of us," Jason said, "My curse won't effect me with the mirror around though." "Why did the mayor put curses on us?" I asked. "Because he wanted to get rid of us," Jason replied, "Jonathan told me." I looked at my hand. Jason took it. "Listen," he said, "I'm sorry this happened to you. It's my fault."

I didn't know what to say. I was speechless. "You know what?" I said, "This wasn't your fault. It wasn't really anyone's fault but mine. I'm the one who got myself into this mess." "We'll finish this," Jason said, "and put it behind us." I nodded. "We will make this story end with a happy ending," Jason said, "Even with all these crazy events." I looked at him. He kept taking glances at me since he was driving. "A happy ending," I whispered.
