Hoseok's train of thoughts was on the verge of derailing.

The only person I still see that Yoongi knows is Jungwon. It can only be him.
Does he know how to free Yoongi?
If he knows something, why didn't he tell me before?

That's when it hit him.

Because I haven't told him the truth either...
Jungwon doesn't know Yoongi IS the statue.

Why would he tell me if he thought Yoongi was simply gone? That would make no sense from his point of view.

It's all my fault..

If I had explained the truth at first, maybe this information he has would have saved Yoongi a long time ago.

Guilt is like a poison, one drop is enough to affect you, and then it only spreads.

Hoseok was about to be sick. For the last three and a half centuries, he had kept Jungwon in the dark. He hadn't share how Yoongi had transformed himself into the statue.

No.

He had told Jungwon he had built it to honor Yoongi's memory.

Hoseok sighed. He had never been so angry at himself. Not only had he lied to Jungwon, making him an extremely bad brother, on the top of it he had waisted Yoongi's time.

He couldn't help but also feel sad for Jungwon.

Jungwon had had to deal with his own sadness of not having Yoongi around anymore. However, he also had to see Hoseok go through a horrible depressive phase.
Knowing that Jungwon had information that could help Yoongi put so much into perspective as well. It meant that Jungwon had to keep it to himself. From his point of view, revealing it would have hurt Hoseok even more.

Hoseok couldn't stay in the classroom any longer. He closed his laptop, put his things in his bag and left the classroom, not even looking back at his friends, nor mister Kim.

"Hey, it's me. Look, I need to talk to you tonight, it's really important"

Hoseok hit sent. He knew Jungwon was in class right now, and he didn't have to courage to type, so vocal message it was.

He had left the university building. Classes had never mattered less than they did right now. He needed to see Yoongi.
Now.

The entrance door opened slowly. Hoseok didn't hear the usual "I'm home" that Jungwon shouted every time he arrived.

Something is wrong.

Jungwon walked into the living room, he was looking at his feet. His hair covered his eyes, but Hoseok saw his nose being red.

"What happened Wonie?" asked Hoseok, getting up from the couch.
"It's Jay" replied Jungwon, sniffing heavily.
"What?" asked Hoseok, surprised. "I thought you were doing well?"
"He said he made a mistake asking me out and that we should just stay friends" explained Jungwon, standing still.
"I.." started Hoseok, not really knowing what he should say.

"I'm so stupid" said Jungwon.
"Of course not" replied Hosoek, hugging his brother.
"I shouldn't have fallen for him. I knew he'd break my heart eventually" mumbled Jungwon, his face burried on Hoseok's shoulder.

The older brother just let the younger empty his emotional bag while patting his back.

"He's stupid. Why didn't he consider things before asking me out? Is is too much too ask?" continued Jungwon.

For twenty more minutes, he continued repeating nonsense. Hoseok, on the other hand, was already thinking about what to do next.

"Want some curry?" he asked in a soft voice, knowing it was Jungwon's favorite food.

The latter just nodded.

"Okay, let me order it" said Hoseok gently.

He grabbed his phone and started ordering food for them.

"Wanna watch some drama while we wait?" he added, as he confirmed their order.
"Yes" agreed Jungwon, turning on the tv.

Hoseok sighted. He didn't want to talk about Yoongi right now. Jungwon always seemed hurt when they mentioned him. Now that he was heartbroken wasn't the right time to do so.

They sat together, Jungwon covered their legs with a blanket. Jungwon had chosen to watch a drama with zero romance in it. He obviously wasn't in the mood for it.

The food arrived and they ate. Jungwon seemed to be better, but Hoseok knew it would go bad again. That's how heartbreaks worked, right?

To be honest, Hoseok didn't really know how heartbreaks worked. Since he had met Yoongi, he knew it was never something to fear. Yoongi and him were meant for each other and whatever difficulty they might encounter, they would figure it out.

Except for this statue situation apparently...

Hoseok might have never experienced heartbreak, however, he had nevertheless felt anger, sadness, rage, being lost, injustice, regret and guilt when Yoongi had turned to stone. So he knew the feelings currently overwhelming Jungwon.

This is why I need to be there for him.
Forgive me Yoongi, I won't be able to talk to Jungwon today...

~

A few episodes of drama, a bowl of curry and a container of ice cream later, Jungwon felt his eyes closing on their own.

"I'm going to bed" he said.
"Sleep well" said Hoseok.

"I'll clean this up" he added, as he saw Jungwon bringing the spoons together.
"Sure?" asked Jungwon.
"Of course, you need to rest" confirmed Hoseok.

Jungwon smiled at him and left the living room. The older brother heard the bathroom door being closed and decided to tidy the living up.

He liked things tidy.

~

The ice cream spoon had just back splashed him as he did the dishes when he remembered something.

When Jungwon arrived after school, he mumbled a lot of things on his shoulder.
He didn't get everything, as Jungwon was both crying and stuttering, but now that he had time to focus on it, there was one thing that bothered him.

"I was right. Love is a disease."

He was almost sure Jungwon had said that.
