Asking him

"Hoseok"

"Hoseok"

"Ask him"

"Hoseok"

The phone on the nightstand was vibrating so furiously that it woke Hoseok up.

Namjoon was calling him.

"Hey" greeted Hoseok, still half asleep.
"Are you okay?" asked Namjoon, with a concerned voice.
"I... I don't even know to be honest" he replied, passing his hand on his face, chasing the last remains of sleep in his conscience.

"Taehyung and Jimin said you acted weird in class yesterday and that you left without saying anything" explained Namjoon. "I don't want to be the annoying guy, but I'm kind of worried."
"Something came up, I have to figure it out" said Hoseok, not wanting to explain it better.

Namjoon waited a few seconds before answering.
"Alright" he finally gave in. "But if you need anything, you text me okay?"
"Will do" agreed Hoseok, before hanging up.

So much to figure out...

Hoseok got up, there was no way he would go to class today. He headed for the kitchen, however he had to stop half way there. Jungwon was in the living room.

"You're not going to school?" asked Hoseok.
"Should I return the question ?" he replied.

Hoseok sighed. He sometimes forgot that Jungwon had been a adult for a long time now, he made his own choices.

"Not in the mood at all" said Hoseok.
"I know why I'm not in the mood" said Jungwon. "But why aren't you?"

There is was. The perfect opening to tell Jungwon everything. Hoseok sighed again.

"Let me get some coffee first, then I'll tell you" he replied.

"Is this what you texted me about yesterday?" asked Jungwon as soon as he saw his older brother coming inside the living room, fuming cup of coffee in hand.

"It is" he confirmed, sitting down.

Jungwon nodded, ready.

"I don't even know where to start" said Hoseok, looking away. "It's about Yoongi."
"What about it?" asked Jungwon.

Hoseok frowned. Jungwon had said it not him. He knew it was because Jungwon was used to reference the statue as an object, but it still hurt and upset him each time it happened.

"Remember what I told you?" asked Hoseok, not waiting for and answer. "I told you that Yoongi had disappeared and that I had commissioned a statue in his honor."
"I remember you telling me about it, yes" confirmed Jungwon. "It was when I came back from my first trip alone."
"Exactly" agreed Hosoek. "Well, what I told you isn't entirely true."

"What do you mean?" asked Jungwon, calmly.
"I.. uh" Hoseok tried to continue.

However, this talk was bringing up too much. He was about to break his little brother's heart once more. Not only had Jungwon had to deal with Yoongi's "passing" after his trip back then, he was currently dealing with his Jay-situation. And now, Hoseok was going to drop another bomb on him. That only added to Hoseok's own pain.

"Yoongi isn't gone in the way you think" said Hoseok rapidly. "I didn't commission a statue of him. He is the statue."
"What?" asked Jungwon, frowning. "That doesn't make any sense."
"He transformed into stone in front of my eyes, and I've been trying to save him this whole time" added Hoseok.

He looked at Jungwon. The latter seemed to be hesitant.
Probably just processing the news...

"Are you really trying to tell me that you've been lying to me for three hundred and a half years?" asked Jungwon, suddenly determined.
"I'm sorry" said Hoseok, pinching his lips. "I didn't want you to carry this burden."
"What burden?" replied Jungwon. "I thought you said we would share everything."

"I know, I know" said Hoseok, whispering painfully.
"So.. he's all stone right?" asked Jungwon.

Hoseok nodded.

"I thought he was asleep, all this time, but I recently found out that he's conscious" added Hoseok.

Pure shock spread on Jungwon's face.

"What do you mean?" he asked, suddenly almost angry. "He's stone now, he can't be conscious."
"You remember Namjoon, well, he said he felt Yoongi's emotions when we were next to him" explained Hoseok.
"Namjoon did what now?" asked Jungwon, extremely confused.

"Oh, right" remembered Hoseok. "Namjoon is like us, but he also can read people's emotions. Like mind reading, but for feelings."
"That's kinda cool" commented Jungwon. "And scary."
"I know" replied Hoseok.

"So... Yoongi is... conscious?" asked Jungwon, eyes wandering here and there rapidly.
"He is.." sighed Hoseok.

"So what happens now?" asked Jungwon.

He seemed extremely calm, which somehow bothered Hoseok.
He was expecting the accusation about the lie, but mostly he thought it would be a bigger deal.
Jungwon had been mostly shocked when Hoseok had revealed Yoongi was conscious. The rest of their talk had been pretty calm and serious.

"I don't know, I'm trying to find a way to save him" said Hoseok, hoping that Jungwon would remember and tell him the information he most needed.
"You haven't succeeded all this time" commented Jungwon. "Why is this time different?"
"That's rather direct don't you think?" said Hoseok, annoyed by Jungwon's tone.

"Look, I just learnt you've been lying to me for more than half of my life, I think I can be a little dry" explained Jungwon.

Hoseok ignored it. He needed to keep his calm if he needed Jungwon's help.

"Yoongi sometimes appears in my dreams" started Hoseok. "Last time he told me "ask him""
"Ask who?" asked Jungwon.

"My question precisely" confirmed Hoseok. "But out of the people Yoongi knew that I still see... There's only you..."
"What? Me?" asked Jungwon. "I don't see what I have to do with anything."

"Are you sure?" asked Hosoek desperately. "Yoongi seems to think you can help saving him."

"Why would I do that?" asked Jungwon in a whisper.
"What did you just say?" asked Hoseok standing up as he felt an adrenaline rush spreading in his veins.

After a minute of silence, Jungwon looked straight in Hoseok's eyes, standing up as well.

"I said, why would I do that?" repeated Jungwon.
"Why wouldn't you?" asked Hoseok shouting.

"Cause I'm the one who cursed him" replied Jungwon.
