Part -2
Raghav slumped back in his chair closing his eyes. A low groan left his mouth as his stiff neck muscles twitched. The meeting took longer than needed to wrap up and he had to skip lunch to be online. His stomach rumbled reminding him the same.
Quickly buzzing the intercom,he ordered Reddy to bring him something to eat in the den itself. He was not in the mood to go down to dining area at the moment. Anyway it did not make a difference where he ate.The fact was that he would be eating alone.
As he waited for his food to arrive, his eyes fell on the sole photoframe that stood on his large desk. It held a picture of his mother and sister. The two of them smiling at the camera.
A small smile erupted on Raghav's face as he admired the picture but his smile dropped almost instantly when the happenings of the previous day came back to him.
flashback
A very hesistant Raghav slowly knocked on the old wooden door. As he heard shuffling from the other side,he stepped away from the door and took a deep breath. The door creaked as it was flung open to the inside and came in sight the one person who he would wait standing on his tiptoes to see.
"Amma..." Raghav whispered as his eyes instantly filled with tears which he did not care to hide. He was before his mother afterall,he had nothing to hide.
Jaya Rao kept on looking at his face as if taking in her own fill of her son before she flinched out of her trance and looked away. Clearing her throat, she spoke in a stiff voice,"Keerthy is not here. She-"
"I am here for you Amma. You know that." Raghav stepped forward not waiting for an invitation as he entered the house before turning to his mother again.
"Why are you here?" Jaya raised her voice not wanting to give in to the part of her which was melting readily at his eyes full of longing.
"Let's please sit and talk Amma." He pleaded catching hold of her hand carefully. When she did not protest Raghav couldn't control his smile as he requested again,"Please Amma."
Jaya huffed loudly before walking straight to the beaten down sofa in the room and taking a seat. Raghav followed after her and sat down on the ground right near her feet uncaring of his expensive suit.Jaya shifted back surprised at his action.
"Amma I came to talk to you about something important. But before that here." Raghav withdrew a pack of sweets from the paper bag he was carrying and handed it to his mother. Grinning upto her he spoke proudly,"Your favourite kaju katli."
As Jaya simply took the box and placed it aside indifferently, his smile dimmed a little but he did not take her lack of enthusiasm to his heart. Atleast she took it,he reminded himself.
