"Techno so good to see you again, so sorry we don't have time for small talk," Dream said.Cypress had never met the man and had nothing against him, yet she didn't like him, and she liked most people even Tommy innit. Dreams voice, unlike techno's monotone one, was coated with honey. Cypress made a mental note that he seemed the type to always get his way.
"Good," techno stated simply. He was in no mood for Dreams antics.
Dream was put off slightly by the pigmans remark but quickly regained his ego and kept talking.
"I'm here on business, important business that is," Dream said dropping his previously suave tone for a more serious one. That is till he saw Cypress standing behind Techno observing their conversation.
Up until that point in their conversation dream had forgotten about the girl he had seen through techno's window. Now he was painfully aware of the girl stood watching his and techno's interaction. He decided his mission could be put on hold for he was far more interested in this person.
"Who are you? As far as i know techno has no other siblings, and he sure as hell doesn't have a social life," Dream said laughing at the end of his sentence.
"I thought you didn't have time for small talk." Techno said his tone filled with hostility. He unknowingly stepped closer to cypress, but not far enough away from dream as to give him room to enter techno's house.
"And i thought i was talking to them not you, but i guess not." Dream spat back with the same hostility his eyes meeting techno's in a challenge. Techno sighed and stepped to the side slightly so that Cypress could stand next to him. He was in no mood to deal with Dreams pettiness. maybe he'll leave me alone if i give him what he wants, techno thought but he knew that was unlikely. Cypress stepped forwards but stayed next to techno not wanting to get to close to the strange man on their doorstep.
"Hello i don't believe we've met, I'm dream," Dream said his suave voice returning. Little did the three know dream and cypress had met before however that was long before dream was dream.
Techno looked down at Cypress to see if she was at all charmed by, or buying dreams act, she was not.
"Pleasure," she said, her voice slightly strained. She was highly uncomfortable with the man in front of her, despite the previous relationship between the two that both were unaware of.
"And you are?" Dream asked, he didn't know why he was asking. For some reason the girl seemed familiar and the fact that he couldn't remember why was killing dream. Maybe it was nothing, or maybe it was something very important. Dream believed the latter while the voice in his head was convinced it was the first. The voice couldn't let him find out too much.
"No one of consequence," Cypress stated simply, not seeing the need to elaborate.
She was intrigued by the man in front of her, but not curious enough to forgo her anonymity. Dream was annoyed at her words, even though he would have done the exact same thing in her position. Of course dream wouldn't realize how similar him and cypress actually were, and the reason behind that, until much later.
"I'm sure that's not true-" Dream said before getting swiftly interrupted by techno who was bored of dreams desperate attempts to appear friendly. No matter how hard he tried the unsettling mask prevented that. Of course the mask wasn't dreams choice, more of a precaution.
It wasn't even the mask that put off Cypress, she had seen worse masks, it was his voice or more specifically the two voices that were coming from the man. One was Dreams voice, smooth and more importantly, coming from his mouth.
The other was deeper pitched , far from human, that seemed to be coming from everywhere around cypress. She seemed to be the only one to hear it, neither men made any indication otherwise. Although dream had been pretending that the voice wasn't there for years, so it made sense he gave no reaction to the loud booming voice echoing through his and now cypress's head.
He also had no idea that she could hear the voice that was currently scolding him for getting distracted.
"I thought you had no time for small talk Dream." Techno said once again stepping in front of cypress. He could tell that Cypress was concentrated, although he didn't know why, and he had no desire to let dream interrupt her thoughts.
Dream sighed, "Yes i suppose so," he said still eyeing cypress. Cypress eyed him right back a puzzled and slightly annoyed expression on her face.
"And that business is?" Techno asked wanting the green man off of his doorstep as soon as possible.
"Right well, you know how Tommy is in exile," Dream asked not waiting for techno's answer before continuing. "Well hes gone, hes fled Logstedshire," Dream said pausing for dramatic effect.
"Why should i care?" Techno responded.
Cypress took that as her time to leave considering half of the words dream had said meant nothing to her. She turned to leave, patting techno's shoulder as a silent good luck. Dream did not seem like a very fun person to deal with. She walked a few steps before the voice sounded again, this time speaking directly to cypress.
"They're not good people cypress, they know nothing of loyalty, they're criminals. Your too powerful to be weighed down by them."
Saying that cypress was surprised would be an understatement, she stopped in her tracks. Neither techno or dream noticed her stop, dream was too busy trying to enter the house, and techno was too busy trying to stop that from happening. Cypress managed to regain her barrings after a few seconds and trudged back to her room, in a significantly worse mood. She decided it would be best to just hide there until dream left.
About an hour later a knock sounded on her door. She stood up from her desk stretching her stiff joints as they did so. She opened the door to an uncomfortable looking technoblade.
"Are you okay," he asked, concern lighting up his face like a christmas tree.
" im fine but tommy might not be," They said pushing her way past the tall man making her way to where the younger boy was sat in the basement of the house.
She climbed down the ladder to find tommy curled up in the corner cradling a small beaten up notebook and a small object that looked like a compass. The outline of tears on his face was clear and heartbreaking.
