A Memory to Cherish

Three: Unexpected

//hint of suicidal thoughts ahead//

I received a call from an unkown number.

"Hello?"

["Oh, hi Nika"] A familiar voice.

"Kuya?"

["Hahaha oo, kuya mo to"]

"Did you change your number or something?"

["Yeah I did. Nasira lumang sim card ko so I had to buy a new one"]

"I see. Bakit ka napatawag?"

["Di ko na matiis eh. Surprise sana kaso ayon sasabihin ko na. Pauwi na ko jan sa bahay. Stay ako for 3 weeks"]

"What?! Bakit? May nangyari ba?"

["Haha no wala naman. We were just given an academic break, that's all"]

"Sheesh, okay okay have a safe trip. Hintayin kita ha"

["Yes yes, love you"]

"Love you too kuya, bye"

Our call ended and I happily went home.

Nice. Kahit 3 weeks lang sya dito okay na. Namimiss ko na din naman sya. Ilang months na kaming di nagkikita eh.

Hula ko nililinis na ni Mom buong bahay namin. Pauwi na kasi favorite child nya.

I reached our house and entered quietly. As expected, busy nga maglinis si Mom.

"Oh Nika pauwi na kuya mo, don't try to make a mess, kita mo naman na naglilinis ako" Mom said.

"Sure"

Went upstairs and changed my clothes. Buti naman hindi tinanong ni Mom kung bakit PE uniform suot ko. Well.. as if may pake sila sakin.

I looked at the picture frame on my study table. A picture of me and my kuya. Looking at it makes me feel nostalgic.

I remember when we were kids, we used to sneak out in the afternoon, pupunta kami sa park and buy ice creams. Laging sinasabi ni kuya na sya may pakana non kaya hindi kami napapagalitan.

Tuwing sinisigawan ako nina Mom noon, laging dadating si kuya and ipapagtanggol ako. I just wish na nandito sya palagi.

I didn't realize that I left my window open and the wind suddenly blew. I can feel the cold breeze. It's so peaceful.

As I was resting, I heard something fell. It was the picture frame that I was staring at earlier. Out of all things, why did this one fell?

I feel so nervous and I think something bad will happen.

I called Kuya Jarred out of panic.

"Kuya?"

["What's up?"]

"Nasaan ka right now? Are you okay?"

["In the middle of the road, and yes okay naman ako. Why?"]

"Ah nothing, just checking up on you. Malapit ka na ba?"

["Medyo, just wait for me. May gifts din akong dala para sayo"]

"Thank you. Ingat ka ha. I'll definitely wait for you. Love you"

["Love you too, bye"]

I felt relieved. Hopefully nothing bad happens.

Did some of my homework and studied advance for our lesson tomorrow.

After doing so much things, the worry is still there. I feel sick to my stomach.

I went downstairs and opened our tv. Decided to watch some movies while waiting for kuya to arrive.
