Chapter 15

Chapter 15:
(Josh)

We finish eating our breakfast in bed and I set the plates down on the floor. I turn on my side so I can face Jen and I slowly slide my hand across her waist and start to draw shapes with my fingers. "Jen, I don't want to freak you out or something but have you ever thought about maybe trying to get pregnant again?" I ask nervously. "I uh I don't think that's a very good idea right now. Since we still have Ava to take care of and I don't want you to have to take care of me too." She says, but she sounds unsure. After what seems like forever, she gets up and kisses me on the cheek. "We need to get going soon, if we wanna get Ava something." She pulls clothes out of her bag and some other things and then walks into the bathroom. Great, now I've made things awkward. I get changed into a t-shirt and khaki shorts. Then I pack our bags and clean up the room, while I wait for her.

She walks out of the bathroom holding her makeup and toothbrush and puts it into her bag. Then she zips both of our bags up and grabs her phone off the bed. She's wearing a blue shirt with one sleeve slid down to her shoulder and skinny jeans. We both put our shoes on and grab our bags, then walk out into the hall in silence.

As we're approaching the door I can see people in the lobby, but no paparazzi. They must not know we're here yet. I hold the door open and she walks out. "Are you mad?" I ask as were walking in the nearby store. "No, what do you think we should get her?" She asks looking around the store. "I don't know, maybe something to go in her room like a stuffed animal or something." I walk around examining things. I come across a bracelet and some charms and decide to make one, I know Ava can't have one now but Jen can. I look through the charms and find one that's in the shape of a heart, I take that and then look some more. I end up with five charms, the heart, the Eiffel Tower, a pizza, a rose, and another heart. I put the bracelet together then walk to the checkout, I grab a box of chocolate, the same kind I got last night and buy them too, then I carefully put them in my bag when she's not looking. She runs up to me and shows me three baby blocks, they spell Ava. "Those are perfect. We can put them above her bed." I say smiling at her, I try not to act suspicious as I get my wallet out of my bag.

We arrive back in L.A. and I spot my moms car in the parking lot. We put our bags in the trunk then I get in the front and Jen gets in the back. "Did you two have fun? Paris is such a lovely place." My mom says, and the interrogation begins. "Yeah, we were mostly in the hotel though so we didn't do much sight seeing." I look back at Jennifer and see that she's staring out the window. "Was the hotel nice?" My mom asks turning my attention back to her. "Yeah, they had a hot tub and it wasn't very crowded." I watch her park in the driveway. "That's good." We get out of the car and I grab my bag. I follow my mom into the house and set my bag down by the door. "Josh can I talk to you for a second?" My mom asks after Jennifer comes in and shuts the door.

I walk with her into the kitchen and I hear Jen talking to her parents in the living room. "Yeah?" I ask leaning up against the counter. "Did something happen? She didn't talk the whole way here and when she answered your phone the other day she said you weren't there." She says sounding worried. "No, I mean not really. I went to the store but I think I said something that might've upset her this morning." I say looking over at Jen who is laughing at something her mom said. "What'd you say?" I repeat this morning to her. "So you just asked her if she thought about it?" I nod and try to think of anything else I could've done. "Maybe she just feels bad about spending so much time away from Ava lately." She seems to be in deep thought as she says it. "Yeah, maybe that's it." I say watching Jen pick up Ava. "Other than that did you have fun?" She asks. "Yeah." I smile thinking about the hair pins we left all over the floor in the hotel room. "Good. I think me and your dad are gonna leave soon our flights in like thirty minutes." She says walking with me to the living room.

After everyone leaves I take our bags upstairs and unpack, making sure to hide my present for Jennifer. "Hey, Josh. Can you un fold the stroller? I don't think I'm strong enough and I wanna take Ava to the pet store tomorrow." She asks walking into our bedroom. "Yeah, I'll be right back." I walk to Ava's room and quietly get the stroller ready, careful not to wake her.

The second I return to our bedroom, Jen takes her shirt off. She facing the closet so all I can see is her back. I stay frozen by the door as she un hooks her bra and then pulls down her pants. She takes off her underwear and puts on new ones and a t-shirt. Just as she's turning around I shut the door so she knows I'm here. She bends down and picks up her dirty clothes and throws them in the basket. "Did you just get in here?" She asks climbing into bed. "Mhm." I sit down on the bed with her. She covers up and turns away from me facing the closet and I lay down too.

A/N: I now remember why I was so sleep deprived when I was writing this fanfic every night.
