"Why? What's he doing?" JJ asks.
"He's gonna—"
"I'm gonna go down there. Hopefully find something useful." John B interrupts Aurora.
"I was gonna say that." Aurora states, while rolling her eyes.
"Sure you were."
Aurora walks away from the group.
There have been multiple occasions where Aurora Minerva gets frustrated then blurts out things she didn't mean. In order to prevent this from happening too often, Aurora shuts her mouth and walks away.
Pope watches as Aurora walks to the other side of the boat. His face softens as he admires her. The cold wind brushes against her tan skin, making her shiver. When the sun hits Aurora just right, her freckles appear. They only come out when she's been in the sun. Pope loves them. Aurora doesn't know this, but sometimes, after she's fallen asleep, Pope will count them one by one.
John B flops into the water.
Pope finds himself wandering away from Kiara and JJ as they watch John B.
Aurora doesn't say anything when the Heyward boy sits beside her.
"You cold?" Pope asks.
"The wind," Aurora answers, "I'm fine though."
He nods his head. His gaze wanders. "How's your cut?"
"It hurts like a motherfucker," Aurora says, "John B didn't have anything to ease the pain."
Pope laughs. "Gotta be more careful, Ace."
"Oh my God you did not just say that!" Aurora exclaims. Kiara and JJ look at her with confusion.
Aurora Minerva is absolutely and utterly obsessed with Gilmore Girls. She's been trying to convince her friends to watch it as well, but none of them have ever listened.
"Ace" is a reference to the show. Logan Huntzburger begins his love story with Rory Gilmore by using the nickname Ace.
Just before Pope can answer, John B emerges from the water, grasping Aurora's attention. She walks away from the Heyward boy.
Pope watches as she leaves, rubbing his face. "God dammit," he mumbles to himself.
He follows Aurora and helps John B get back into the boat.
"So whatcha find?" Aurora asks.
John B smiles, holding up a motel key.
The pogues groan dramatically, turning away from the ridiculous Routledge boy.
"A motel key."
"Yes, JJ, a motel key."
Kiara and Aurora look back and forth to each other. They both know they're thinking the same thing.
"Guys, I think we should let someone know the boat is here. It's really dangerous. I mean, JJ literally flew into the water." Aurora points out.
"Yeah. If we report it to the coast guard, we might get a finders fee." Kiara agrees.
After a little bit of convincing, all three boys agreed. The pogues ventured off to the coast guard that was settled at the pier on Main Street.
༄
Aurora, Pope, and Kiara watch as JJ and John B go into the coast guard tent.
Pope turns to Aurora. "Rory, you should definitely go home. Get that cut checked out, dude."
