And that day, it was like Jasmine had spoken to soon. When he had stepped into work, he saw ‘God’s most beautiful creation’. Well that’s what came to mind when he thought about it deeply. He was in a trance. He admired her good looks. The way she swayed from left to right, making everybody know that she was the shit.
Jayden wouldn’t usually call a woman he didn't know beautiful. The only women in his life he had ever called beautiful were Jasmine and his mother, when she was alive. However Jayden thought this woman was beautiful. The way she carried herself, without a care in the world.
He was...hmm, in love. At first sight. Yeah, love at first sight. That's what he felt when looking at her. He felt as though he had known her for the longest of times. All this just by looking at her.
Then he stopped, thought, and realised. This wasn’t love, but it was lust. He’d never known how to feel about another woman outside of his family before. So of course this beautiful woman would have captivated him. But then he stopped, and thought again. He’d seen many beautiful women, but how comes they’d never made him feel like before.
Jayden was never the confident type. He wasn’t the type of man to ‘chirps’ or ‘chat up’ a woman. Most of the time a women had come to him. Not because he thought he was too nice to make conversation with other people, but for the reason that, he never knew how to make the first move.
“Good morning Jayden. You’re early today.” Jayden’s manager pointed out to him as if he wasn’t aware.
“Yes Jeff, you know what I say though. You can never be too early.”
“Yes, yes Jayden. How could I forget?” Jeff patted him on the shoulder and walked off to get his morning coffee. He would had offered Jayden one, but he knew that Jayden would turn it down. Jayden didn't drink coffee. Bit of a health freak if you ask me. He saw his body as a temple. A place of worship. God’s creation.
He walked into his office, not before collecting his mail from Suzie, whom didn't hesitate to give him that flirtatious smile she always did. He hung his briefcase up on the rack along with is coat and scarf. It was a cold day that day. He had remembered telling jasmine to wrap up warm. But he knew she’d only take off the extra layers once she was in school.
He opened his little mini fridge and took out a bottle of water. ‘Refreshing’. He thought as he took a long sip of it.
Jayden was an accountant. He worked in the main office of a bank. Upstairs. Nobody but the workers ever went up there. Compared to the other workers, Jayden was really well paid. He’d worked hard for his money and no one can say otherwise. All his colleagues thought he was a hard working member and trustworthy. He wasn’t the person in charge, but if anyone ever had a problem Jayden would be first on their lists of helpers.
Knock, Knock. Jayden looked towards his door where he saw a slender figure behind it. “Come in.” He shouted. The person walked in. Jayden’s breath was taken away. The same beautiful women had come to speak to him. He noticed her also staring at him. He cleared his throat. “How can I help you?” he asked professionally.
“I was just wondering if you could help me with something. I'm new here and I'm not sure about much that goes on.”
“Yeah sure, what would you like to know?”
“First of all, your name.” She let a small laugh out. Jayden also laughed along side her. He thought that she was a little flirtatious, but nothing he couldn’t handle.
“Jayden and yourself.” He gestured his hand out to her so she could shake it.
“Riaz, nice to meet you Jayden.” She then accepted his hand gesture and replied with a shake.
“Nice name.” He gave a polite smile back. She returned it with a warmer smile. “Would you like a drink, Riaz?” he asked looking away from her.
“yes please.” He walked over to his fridge and took out a bottle of water.
“Sorry I only have water.”
“No, it’s okay. I’d prefer water any day.” Jayden smiled in his head knowing that they now shared something in common – apart from the fact that they both have an attraction for each other.
Jayden and Riaz had spent the rest of their morning talking and getting to know each other. It was new for Jayden. He had never experienced something like that before. Before Riaz left to go and have her lunch she finally plucked up the courage to ask him if they could do that again some time. “Do you think we could do this again some time?”
“Yeah sure.” Jayden replied before he even knew it. “But for now I’ve got to get to work.”
“Bye.” She waved him off as she left the room. When she had closed the door, Jayden rested his head back and rubbed his hand over his face. He sighed and contemplated whether it was worth it him getting to know Riaz. All she was bound to do was hurt him in the end. Or could she be the one for him, the one he was looking for.
