Today I go home from the hospital and my baby girls get to see their first home. Just as I'm packing up my stuff Dr. Thompson comes in to see the girls one last time and check on how I was doing.
" Vanessa, don't hesitate to bring them in every once in awhile. Good luck." He smiles and leaves the room.
" Are my angels ready to go home?" I whisper to Courtney and Chloe. " Trevor get the car seats. " He leaves the room and my grandmother walks in.
" Awe, look at my great granddaughters. I got these for them." She hands me two head bands with flowers on them.
" They're perfect gram. Thank you. " I give her a kiss on the check and put them on the girls.
" Let me hold one of them." I give her Courtney and I smile. Everything was totally worth it. When Trevor comes back in with the two car seats, we get the girls all strapped in and I sign my release forms. On the drive home it was silent. I noticed when we pulled into our street there were multiple cars outside our home.
" Please tell me that you didn't know about this. " I say and Trevor looks super annoyed.
" No I didn't. I really didn't want a shit ton of people around when we first came home. I was surround by people for two days. " I agree, I love that people want to see the twins but if they could come in small groups that would be lovely. He parks the car and I get one while he gets the other. I brace myself for when I open the door.
" Welcome home!!" I put on a fake smile and walk in.
" Hi. " Is all I say when I set the car seat down on the couch to get Chloe out . She starts screaming when my aunt and her children come over to watch me take her out. Like I didn't know taking out a two day old was fascinating. " Mother can we speak in private." Once I get Chloe nestled in my arms I walk up to my bedroom. Despite how sore I am, I manage to push through.
" What's up sweetheart?" She asks sitting on my bed.
" I get that everyone wants to see the babies but I just kinda want to relax with my family. Not the whole family. There are a whole bunch of little ones running around and are noisy might I add. I love that you want everyone to see them, but not all at once okay?" My mother looks sort of heart broken but I think she gets where I'm coming from.
" Okay Ill tell everyone to leave. " No they might as well stay.
" They might as well stay but I'm not going back down. If the adults want to see them they can come up here. Not too many at one time. Tell Trevor to bring Courtney up, please ." She just nods her head and leaves. I feel bad but I can't just let her do what she wants when she pleases when it comes to my babies. Chloe starts fussing again so I try to rock her but that doesn't help. Maybe she's hungry? I take out my breast and she instantly calms. Trevor walks in and his eyes come to me. He starts to seem uncomfortable when he notices Chloe eating.
" What's wrong?" He sits on the bed next to me holding Courtney.
" Nothing." He's lying.
"Bullshit, tell me." He sighs.
" I just don't get why you couldn't just buy formula instead of... well that." What, breastfeeding?
" You mean breastfeeding. It's cheaper and more natural. You didn't have a problem with my boobs when you were-" I was cut off by the door opening and my aunt May coming in. I give Trevor a glare, letting him know that this isn't over.
_^_
By the time everyone has left I'm exhausted. I just layed the twins down in the basinet iny room and Trevor is laying on the bed, on his phone. " Babe." He still doesn't look at me.
