So it's a few hours before the show and I have to start to get the lambs ready for the show. While I was getting the lambs ready for the show my cousin Miah watched Hazel for me so I could focus on getting them ready and looking perfect.
First I had to clean out their pen so they had fresh bedding and it looked good. Then it was time to bathe them. this was my least favorite part about showing lambs because they hated the water. They would do anything to try and not get wet. so by the end, you were almost wetter than the lamb.
"Need any help there?" I hear kyle ask.
"Nope, I got it under control here," I answer as my lamb dumps over my bucket of water all over and the proceeds to poop on my foot and somehow gets it on the other lamb that I already cleaned up.
"sure looks like you have it under control." He says laughing.
"Wow, so you think this is funny?" I ask a little pissed off.
"Yeah, I kind of do. Because you always so put together and never need help, so it's funny watching you struggle," he said.
"Well, thanks," I say as I start to spray him with some water from the hose.
"Hey stop that" He yells while he's laughing.
"Stop what?" I ask.
"I'll make you stop," he says as he comes running after me.
I drop the hose and take off running laughing as he picks up the hose and chances after me. once he catches up with me he sprays me down and then proceeds to drop the hose and walk away.
I pick up the hose and walk back to my lambs and finish washing them up for the show.
After I'm done putting my lambs away so I can go and get ready. I go and get Hazel so I can get her ready for the show also.
when I get there to get Hazel my cousin looks me up and down and says "what happened to you?" laughing.
"Um the hose got away from me," I say with a shrug of the shoulders.
"Okay if that's what you want to say," she answers
"what that is really what happened," I say in defense.
"Okay, whatever you say," she says with an eyebrow raise.
"wheres my baby girl?" I ask
"She over there taking a nap," she says pointing to the couch.
"aww, she's so cute I don't want to wake her up but we have to go back to the camper to get ready," I say
so I walk over there and pick her up into my arms and say thank you to Miah and head over to the camper to get ready. when we get to the camper she is still sleeping so I lay her in her bed and I go to the bathroom and get ready. After I'm done getting ready I go and find that Hazel is still sleeping. I gently go over and rub her back and whisper in her ear "Hazel time to wake up," she turns around and looks up at me, and smiles. After I'm done getting hazel ready we head back to the barn to sit by the lambs until it's showtime.

So as we are sitting by the lambs kyle walks over with a chair in his arms and sits right next to us, because his lambs are right next to each other. I just ignore him and continue playing with Hazel and talking with people who have questions about my lambs and the show. After a group of people leave that I was talking to he looked over at me and says, "ready to lose tonight" and I responded with " only in your dreams do you win."
"oh really care to make this interesting?" He asks with a side smile.
"How so?" I ask.
"If I win you have to go on a date with me" he answers.
"And if I win?" I ask.
"I have to go on a date with you and I have to pay you $50." He answers
"So either way you want to go on a date but I only get $50 if I win?" I ask.
It is now showtime Hazel is with my cousin Miah again sitting in the bleachers watching as I get ready to walk into the show ring with my lamb. I am in the same weight class as kyle so of course, we are keeping an eye on each other trying to keep our lambs looking perfect for the judge. after about 10 minutes the judge walks over to the mic stand and says "This is a great group of heavyweight lambs but there is one lamb that just stands out compared to the other ones. so I'm going to take one more look and then I will be picking the grand champion lamb." she hands the mic back and takes one more quick look and walks over to me and shakes my hand and I about start to cry because this is the biggest award I could reserve when showing lambs and I just got it.
I look over at Kyle who just smiles and nods his head at me. then I look at my mom and dad who are both smiling from ear to ear and lastly I look at Hazel who is smiling and laughing even though she has no idea what is going on right now all I keep thinking is I did this for you, baby girl.
Once we all have our lambs put away and people are done congratulating me on my win. kyle walks over with his head down.
"Well, how does it feel to lose?" I ask him.
"Okay I guess, guess I owe you $50 now." He said.
"Yeah, you do so hand it over," I say
he hands me the $50 and says " and I also owe you a date to"
"oh that's right that was part of the deal but I don't have anyone to watch Hazel for me," I answer
"She can come with us," he says
"you sure you want a baby who is most likely going to be getting tired and cranky soon to come with on a "first date," I say and put quotes around the first date because this isn't a date. It's just friends hanging out. Right?
"Yeah I don't care your a mom and I can't expect you to not have Hazel with you." He answers
Oh My God, he doesn't care that I have a kid. Madi stop you are just hanging out as friends you can't have anything too serious right now you have to focus on Hazel and graduating high school no relationships.
"Okay sounds good to me what do you want to do then?" I ask
"We could go and find something to eat on the midway and play some games" he suggests.
"Sounds good to me just give me a minute to get Hazel's things together."
"Yeah, no problem take all the time you need."
I go and get Hazel's stroller and put her in there and grab her diaper bag and head back by Kyle.
