What a world we live in?

A world that's so darn messed up

I feel ashamed for ever thinking I was.

A world that's so obsessed

With proving themselves better than everyone else

That they're ready to make the same mistakes

Our history books warned us about.

What a world we live in?

I'm ashamed.

No, seriously, I am.

I'd rather be a darn lion, right now

Than be related to this species.

The species that was supposed to be the smartest.

The species that was given the power

To talk, to understand.

No, seriously, do you get what I'm saying?

I'd rather be an animal

That needs to murder everyday

So that it could survive to the next

Than be related to what is supposed to be

The smartest species to ever exist.

What a world we live in?

Where everyone says they're fighting for equality

And, then they go ahead and blame an innocent man

For touching and scratching her

When all that happened was liquid fell on her.

And, no. It wasn't somewhere to get angry about.

It was on her darn feet.

It was liquid that fell on her at a party.

On her feet.

What a world we live in?

Where it's alright to just stand and watch

As a seventeen-year-old boy

Is beaten black and blue.

Is hit so hard as they watched on

That he now has twelve stitches on his head forever.

What a world we live in?

That after two thousand darn years

People haven't yet understood

That watching a crime being done

And doing nothing about it

Is equal to doing the crime yourself.

Cause we've learnt about this in our books.

This has been drilled into our head.

We've taken tests and examinations.

We've been thought and told

That if you can't stop it, you don't watch it.

You don't stand around and urge them on

As they commit a crime

You won't be considered an accomplice to.

Because you are.
