Oakley couldn't sleep that night. She was too worried about what was going on with her powers, and with Silva. It was all just emotionally draining to her, so instead of laying in her bed in complete silence, she thought it would be a good idea to wander around the halls of the school.
Probably not a smart idea seeing as she was in a school of fairies and she had no idea who hated her and who didn't, but she just needed to do something to clear her head. Plus she fell asleep in the greenhouse next to Silva for half of the day so she wasn't very tired.
Oakley thought about going to her brothers room, but decided against it because he wouldn't leave her alone while he was awake, she didn't need him hovering over her in his sleep as well. Plus, she kinda just wanted to be alone right now.
Oakley couldn't bare to deal with anyone else's feelings or emotions at the moment. It would just overwhelm her even more than it already has. So, Oakley quietly left her room once she made sure that all of the others were asleep and just started wondering around the halls.
She didn't want to go outside of the building, not after what she had just witnessed outside of the barrier earlier that day. Once Oakley walked into the main hall, she noticed that there were cushioned seats in front of all of the windows for people to sit on.
It wasn't something she used to think about whenever she came to the building when she was younger. Being alone was peaceful and calming. Well it was either that, or the same boy who always knew how to calm her down and make her feel better without her knowing it.
He seemed to have the same idea, except he couldn't sleep for different reasons. All of his dorm mates were up talking about all of the drama that was going at school even though it had just started and that included talking about the so called 'ice fairy' (Oakley), and what everyone thought happened to Silva (also having to do with Oakley).
Sam didn't want his friends talking about that kind of thing because rumors are very easily spread about everything, and Oakley was his friend. He didn't want them talking about his friend like this, but they wouldn't listen so, he thought he should walk away so he at least couldn't hear what they were saying.
When he walked out of his room, he noticed someone walking down the stairs. It was unusual sight seeing as most of the time, everyone is asleep by now. Sam didn't mean to pry but he wanted to figure out who it was.
Sam was relieved when he found out that it was just Oakley, because it meant that he could see if she was alright and he wouldn't have to explain to some random kid why he was following them.
Oakley could tell that someone was near her, and she could tell who simply by the way they calmed her down instantly. She turned away from the window and saw Sam slowly approaching her.
"What are you doing awake?" She asked and moved over so that he could have a seat next to her. She just looked at him waiting for an answer.
"My mates were all just talking about the shit that happened today, and I didn't want to be there to hear what they had to say about it."She looked away from Sam and down at her hands when he mentioned what happened today.
"Is that why your down here? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to though, we can just sit here if you want." He slowly asked the girl sitting in front of him and sat patiently waiting for an answer."I have a lot of shit going on right now and, all of my friends seem to think that I'm about to break if they say anything, so I just needed some time without any of them." Oakley looked back at Sam and she met his eyes.
She could see that he was genuinely worried and felt sorry. All that he could see was red and puffy eyes staring at him. She must have been crying all day.
"Are you okay? Mentally and physically." He quietly asked and grabbed her hands to show her that he really did care."Physically yes, I've grown up with this fighting stuff so it's normal, and I didn't get hurt by the burned one today so I should be okay there, mentally on the other hand. I mean, I could be a lot better."
"I'm sure I've told you about everything already though. Well except for what happened today. I don't think I've talked to anyone about it other than the girls that were there. I didn't even want to talk to Sky."
"Well, do you want to talk to me about it?" Sam asked her. He was still holding her hands, she didn't tell him to let go or even try to. Instead she wrapped her fingers around his. She felt comforted with him holding her hands.
"We were the girls to find the burned one that Miss Dowling locked up, because of a long story that I'll tell you when I'm not half asleep. The thing ended up with Stella's ring so we knew that we needed to get it back."
Oakley took a deep breathe, that was the easy part of the story. The hard part was everything to do with Silva.
"When we got there, the burned one had escaped and w-when we looked around the corner.... We saw all of the guards bodies, laying on the ground. Silva was the only one to survive."She was having trouble talking about it. Tears were streaming down the girls face and she just couldn't look him in the face.
"His cuts looked so bad and he told us to stay away from him but I couldn't. I just couldn't leave him there to die.""Hey its okay." Sam moved one of his hands to put it on Oakley's face to make her look at him and make her more comfortable.
"You guys got him here, and my dad was able to help him so that he is okay. The guards are going to search for the burned one that got him soon."Hearing this made Oakley look at him with wide eyes.
"You mean the one that Bloom and Aisha killed wasn't the one that attacked him?! There's more than one out there?!"She couldn't think of anything and Sam could see that. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and didn't let her go until she calmed down. Even then, Sam refused to let her go until she went to her dorm room and went to bed.
He walked her to her room that Miss Dowling made so that she could have a room to herself and not have to deal with other people. She went to her bed and she didn't want to go to bed but Sam told the girl that he wouldn't leave until she fell asleep.
And Oakley being the girl she is, wanted him to get sleep for classes the next day so she agreed and quickly fell asleep. Sam smiled, let go of her hand and walked out of her room quietly so that he didn't wake up any of the other girls, or even the boy other guy that was staying.
Although that didn't work because as Sam was about to reach the door, he heard someone walk out of a room. It happened to be Brandon, and he walked out of Stella's room so it wasn't that bad. They weren't completely friends but got along.
They had a small conversation on why Sam was there and once that was over, he quickly left the dorm room and went to his own.
