--- Katy's POV ---
I wiped the table, gritting my teeth as I had to stretch myself to reach the other end. I had done an intense workout yesterday causing me to have sore muscles today. Basically any movement was uncomfortable. The things you do to look good in front of someone. I hadn't done such long workouts in forever, only starting recently again because of Heeseung. That one evening we were in the greenhouse together already was two weeks ago and he visited us quite often since his apartment wasn't that far away. I never managed – and dared – to visit him. I didn't have a believable excuse and I was too shy to just stop by like that.
The door opened and Sunoo came in. I looked at the clock on the wall and smiled softly. Since I started working here, he always came over after his lecture on Friday. At first, he said he wanted to see how my workplace was, then he wanted to support me and then he just said it had become a habit. I hurried over to the counter. It was a small café, so I was alone for the Friday-shift. "Hi Sunoo", I greeted him, already preparing the usual order for him. "Hi", he smiled brightly.
I always had loved his smile that managed to light up a whole room. "How are you?", he asked as always as I placed coffee and cake in front of him. Still thinking about the smile, I realized that slowly but surely Heeseung's had taken over the No. 1 spot. But Sunoo was really close behind. "Good and you?", I answered a bit absent-mindedly. Now the image of Heeseung's smile wouldn't leave my head anymore. He furrowed his brows slightly and I realized he had figured that I was thinking about something else. I focused back on him and added: "How was the lecture?" "Okay. What's on your mind?", he ignored my trial of a topic change. I bit my lower lip, trying to decide whether I should tell him. "I might tell you later", I then promised, "What new, interesting things have you learned at university?" He inspected me a bit longer but then answered and we chatted a bit like usually.
As I put his dishes aside, I hissed once more upon having to squat down and get back up again. He tilted his head. "Since when are you doing your workouts again?", he asked. I shrugged. "Around a week?", I guessed. "Why? You look gorgeous, Katy, you don't need to lose weight", he told me. I smiled flattered. "It's not about losing weight. I feel comfortable with my body. I just want to get fitter again", I explained. I heard Heeseung liked basketball. It couldn't be bad if I was at least somewhat sporty. "I like you the way you are", Sunoo replied with a slight pout. "You're the best friend I can imagine", I said softly and ruffled his hair. "Don't change yourself just because of someone else", he added. I halted. Does he know about my crush? "Well...", I began carefully, "I won't. I wanted to get fitter on my own. I just got the motivation now. And if a guy doesn't like me for me, he's not the right one anyways." He nodded firmly. I chewed my lip, contemplating if I should tell him now. And then I decided to do so.
"Sunoooooo", I began sweetly. He locked eyes with me. "Can you give me some advice?", I asked with my best puppy eyes. "What do you want to know?", he sighed theatrically. I beamed. "I'm a girl", I began. "Don't tell me you need advice on that", he interrupted me and I rolled my eyes smiling. "Hear me out!", I chuckled and hit him jokingly before I went on, "So, I am a girl and you're a guy. And if a girl likes a guy... What should she do to let him know?" "Tell him is the safest way", Sunoo grinned. "You know I am too shy for that", I pouted. He smiled but for some reason it didn't look as happy as it usually did.
Before I could think about it though, he replied seriously: "Well. Make-up would work for you. You barely wear it and if you put it on for someone it usually makes him think. Same's with perfume. Even if it's only unconsciously, you better believe guys realize that something is different. Also, if you behave around him the same way as with every other guy, he won't think he's somehow special to you. Giving him some of those certain looks or laughing about his jokes, stuff like that... Pretty sure you'll find a good way." I looked at him fondly. "Thank you so much", I muttered shyly, "May I ask one more question?" "Hmm?" "Do you think this could work on Heeseung?"
Sunoo looked at me with big eyes. I almost thought I asked something wrong as he smiled softly again. It still didn't reach his eyes though. What was with him? "I'm sure it does. After all, who could resist a girl like you?", he encouraged me. Then he glimpsed on the clock. "Oh, I gotta go. I'll have an appointment. See you later, Katy!", he said rushingly and hurried outside so fast that I almost couldn't say goodbye.
I scratched my head confused. What had happened to make him seem so out of it? Well, there were days like that, even Sunoo had them. So, I shrugged it off and decided to tell Sunghoon to buy some of his favourite sweets to cheer him up again. I didn't like seeing my kindergarten friend like this. Maybe he was as shocked as my brother probably would be if I told him I had a crush on Heeseung. Wait, didn't he like Heeseung? They got along last time I saw them. I had to put my thoughts aside as the next customers came in. After bringing them their orders, I pulled out my phone and texted Sunghoon about the sweets. After a bit contemplating, I added another message to him: "Is something wrong with him? He seemed out of it today." A few minutes later, I already got my answer: "Don't worry about him. He had to go to the dentist afterwards." That explains it. He hated going there. I texted a short thank you back, considering it settled.
