Birthday party

I looked around and smiled happily. I never had imagined so many people in our living room. It was my birthday and not only Jungwon, Niki, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Jay were with me. So many more had joined the party this year and I was perfectly happy about that. I let my eyes wander over to Jake and Annie, joking with each other. Even Roxy and Maya made it to our place this time. Maya was occupied catching up with Niki even though I wondered what they had to catch up on. They texted at least once a day. And Roxy seemed to become friends with Sunoo. At least they kept chatting and laughing since some time now and even exchanged numbers already. And obviously, there was one more person.

I leaned back against Heeseung's chest and sighed satisfied. His chest vibrated slightly as he chuckled. He stroked my arm and blew a kiss on the crown of my head. The presents were unwrapped already. A generous gift card for my favourite book shop from the boys, a potted flower from my Annie, a photobook full of memories from Roxy and Maya and a necklace from Heeseung specially.

"Another year older, huh?", Jake grinned at me. "One year closer to death", I retorted grinning. "Happy Death Day", Jay toasted to me and I laughed. "Let's not talk about that", Heeseung pouted and pulled me closer, "I don't want to imagine life without her." I blushed as he pecked my cheek. Sunghoon rolled his eyes and Niki looked at us, jokingly disgusted while Maya nudged him scoldingly. I chuckled. "On another note", Jungwon changed topic, "Jay, where's the food? I'm getting hungry." "Jake, Heeseung", Jay said and motioned them to get up. I looked at them confused. "We decided to take care of the meal today", my boyfriend announced and I tilted my head amused. "But we're not exactly as good at cooking as Jay is, so it's just Ramen", Jake shrugged and I chuckled. That was perfectly fine with me, I preferred simpler meals actually. "Everything is a feast as long as you all are here", I smiled encouragingly. "And I haven't had Ramen in forever", Annie supported me. "Noodles are great", Roxy laughed lightly.

The guys disappeared into the kitchen to prepare the food as Sunoo dropped down next to me. "Congrats", he said and smiled at me softly, "And I don't only mean because of your birthday. I'm genuinely glad for you being so happy with Heeseung." I blushed and shrugged. "I hope you'll find someone as perfect for you too, I really do", I replied. "One day", he sighed. "For sure", I winked at him.

All of us were too lazy to really move after eating, so we decided to play "Who's who". Suddenly a phone rang and I turned my head confused until I saw Sunoo turning his alarm off. I pouted and asked: "Is it time already?" He nodded with a sad smile. With a sigh, I got up, the others following. We walked Sunoo to the door. His plane would take off in two hours but even though it was the day he would leave for his student exchange, he made time to come to my birthday party. I sulked while the others said their goodbyes, me being the last.

I wrapped my arms around him tightly. "I've never been without you so long, promise me you'll be fine", I mumbled. "I promise", he whispered and gently stroke my back. Sunghoon would drive him and as he tapped my shoulder, I let go with a sigh. "We have to leave", my brother said gently. "Take care, Sunoo, okay?", I told the other one, "Tell me if anything is not like you imagined it and enjoy yourself! And don't forget about us. Come back soon, but only if you want to yourself, you hear? Have the best time ever!" Heeseung put his hand on my back and I cuddled up to him. "Don't worry about me, Katy. Or anyone of you. I'll be fine", Sunoo smiled. "I hope so", I mumbled to myself and Heeseung squeezed my hand. "He will be", he assured me quietly. I leaned against him as we waved the other two goodbye.

One after the other, the rest left as well. Maya would crash at Jungwon's and Niki's apartment, Roxy staying with us. Jake promised to walk Annie home which left Heeseung, Jay, Roxy and me. "I'll clean up the kitchen", my flatmate announced and scuffed away, Roxy excusing herself to help him. I wanted to shout a thanks after them but shrieked as Heeseung suddenly grabbed my waist and pulled me on the couch. His lap, to be more exact.

"I have one more surprise for you", he whispered into my ear while I tried to calm down my heart again, not admitting that it beat that fast because of him instead of the slight scare. "W-Which would be?", I stuttered, losing my mind as he softly placed numerous kisses on my neck. I could literally hear him smirking. And then he started humming a beautiful tune. It took me a few seconds to remember. "That's the melody from back in the hospital, ain't it?", I asked and turned my head slightly to look at him. He smiled softly and nodded. "You said you liked it", he reminded me and kissed my nose before gently dropping me down on the couch, just so he could get up and get his phone. As he came back, I nuzzled up to him and watched him search for a file on his phone. "I had to practically beg Jay, Roxy and her cousin Yoongi to be able to record it, but I managed to persuade them and we made it a full instrumental", he said shyly and before I could say something, he pressed play, filling the room around us with a beautiful melody.
