"There you are, we almost filed a missing report", Jay greeted me as I entered the kitchen on the search for the boys. "Since when are you missing me that much?", I gave back. "We need someone to help us prepare the food", he explained. "Your girlfriend will be so lucky", I sighed theatrically, but went over to them and grabbed the cutting board, knife and onion he held out for me. "What are we celebrating?", I asked as I got aware of the amount of food on the table. "I got the apartment", Heeseung grinned widely. Right, I almost forgot about that. "Congrats", I smiled, truly happy for him. "Therefore, I invented the guys over. Them and Heeseung's new flatmate. They'll be here in a bit. That's fine with you, ain't it?", Jay asked. I sighed and then shrugged: "I guess." "I'll tell you earlier next time, promised", he mumbled, fully focused on cutting the carrots. "Haven't you said that last time already?", I asked. "This time I mean it", he answered.
"Have you started bickering more over the last half year?", Heeseung interrupted us. "True lovers bicker", Jay said overly theatrical while stopping his work to place his hands over his heart and look at me. "I'll stop bickering with you from this day on then", I said indifferently. "And this is why we would be a terrible couple – our opinions just don't match", Jay sighed. I put my knife aside and looked at him with tilted head. "How do we get along as flatmates then?", I thought out loud. Jay shrugged: "Opposites attract each other. But we're smart enough to realize we're too different to actually have a crush on each other." "You really have an answer to everything, don't you?", I grinned. "One of us has to know how the world works", he teased me. I raised my eyebrow smiling but before I could answer, the doorbell rang. "I'll go", Jay announced and sent me a triumphant look before rushing out. This round was won by him. I laughed softly and continued to chop the onion.

The living room was filled with people. Apart from the three of us, Jay had invited over my brother, Sunoo, Sunghoon's roommate and my friend since kindergarten, Niki and Jungwon, Jay's friends from school and Jake, Heeseung's new roommate. The latter one seemed really nice as far as I could tell and I understood why Jay had invited him right away. The two seemed to click well. After cleaning up the dishes, we now sat in the living room, trying to decide a movie to watch together. I had left to get new snacks and as I came back, I heard Sunghoon saying: "No zombies or ghosts as long as my sister watches too." "Come on, you don't have to protect her from everything", Niki protested. "No, he's right in this", Jay sighed and I nodded, dropping down next to him. "I am the kind of person who still can't watch when one animal hunts the other in documentaries even though it's natural. I can't even step on ants", I shrugged. Niki looked at me puzzled.
"She once watched me a bit when I played 'Until Dawn'", Jay added, "And it took me about a week to persuade her to sleep in her own bed again instead of both of us on the couch. I don't wanna go through this again." I smiled apologetically. "You're too innocent for this world", Jungwon sighed. "Okay, let me make a suggestion then", Jake interrupted us and we turned to him. "How about Free Guy?", he asked. I looked at my brother, knowing that he already had watched it. "She'll survive that one for sure", he nodded. "Let's go then", Jungwon said.

I got immersed in the movie quite fast. I barely realized how Niki got up to get more snacks. But I definitely didn't realize him sneaking up to me to scare me. As he did, I jumped, shrieked and almost kicked Jake who was sitting in front of me. Due to me, Jungwon flinched as well, looking around confused. Sunghoon sent Niki a disapproving look. I slowly regained composure as I heard Jay mumbling behind me: "Thanks for the offer, but I am not hungry." As I turned to him, I saw that he just pulled some of my hair out of his mouth. I seemingly had hit him right in the face with it. "Sorry", I muttered shyly.
Suddenly, Jay stopped and took some of my hair to sniff it. I furrowed my brows but then it dawned on me. Oh. "Have you been using my hair treatment?", he asked suspiciously. I sent him my most innocent look and confessed: "I just was curious... And only once, I promise!" I saw that he was ready to scold me but upon my pleading look, he just sighed and answered: "Well, tell me if I should buy one for you alone next time." "Thanks", I replied.
After the movie, we said goodbye to the others rather soon. Heeseung agreed to drive Jungwon and Niki home. Jay closed the door behind them and immediately turned to me afterwards. "Is it about the treatment?", I sighed. It was, I knew. He didn't mind if I used his stuff, but he wanted to know whenever I did. But then he just waved it off and I realized it was one of those rare moments, showing how he actually cared about me, despite all the bickering between us. Just like back then after the Breaking-Dawn-incident. His actions show it. "Let's just say we're even for me not telling you about the various visits recently. You should go to bed, I bet you need the sleep", he said. I smiled. "Thanks", I said sincerely. "Whatever", he gave back and turned around, but stopped in his tracks to look back. "You're good?", he asked. He knew how rapidly I got drained by having a lot of people around spontaneously. I nodded. "Good night then", he said and disappeared into his room. "Good night", I shouted after him before heading to bed myself.

A/N:
Not really satisfied with this chapter. It's meant to show a bit more of the "bickering but caring"-dynamics between Katy and Jay; hope it worked. The next ones gonna better again, promised! ;)
