chapter 19. Ryder

Storming back into my home after Bee's confession,my head still trying to process everything I've just found out.

"Hey dude, good run? " lucus looks at me, fuck why did I forget they were still here.

I grab a glass of water, drinking it in one gulp. I grip hold of the glass, I'm beyond livid. Picking up the glass I smash it to the kitchen door.

"Woo dude, what's happened?" Lucus now stands over me, as I collapse to the floor leaning against the fridge.
I feel my body shut down as I put my head in my lap, tugging at my hair.

"Come on  Ry talk to me? What's going on?" Lucus challenges again.

"Bee, she has a son." I weep into my lap.

I notice the shadow of Mia now standing over me.

"Shit, she told you! Didnt she?" Mia asked.

"You knew? I lift my head to face her?" She cowers down to my side, I'm so sorry  as she embraces me into a hug.

"Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on? " Lucus moans.

"Bee, her son, David, his my fucking son and she didnt fucking tell me, nearly three year and she hid it from me." I shout.

"Shit, I dont know what to say, I'm sorry man." Lucus taps my shoulder.

"When did you find out? " I turn to Mia.

"The day of your match I heard Jade and her talking in the toilet, I confronted her and told her to tell you, and she promised she promised me she would." Mia pulls me in closer.

"I have the most beautiful little boy I've ever seen and I didnt even know. I've lost so much time with him, I missed the birth, the first steps, the first words, fuck I've missed his first two birthdays and christmas." I sob.

"Come on man, let's get you up, look I cant tell you why Bianca did what she did and  why she kept the baby a secret from you, but what i can tell you is that your son needs you. You need to step up and be a father to him, yes you may have lost nearly three years off his life but dont regret missing anymore, he needs you Ry now more than ever. " Lucus pulls me up from the floor into a hug.

"Your right, he needs me, he needs his dad around and I'll do whatever it takes to make that happen." I state.

"I get your angry at Bianca but dont do do anything stupid, she still his mum and shes clearly done an amazing job bringing him up so far." Mia interjected.

"Yeah, we'll see." I sigh.

That afternoon as Mia and Lucus went back home, I drank myself into an oblivion, drinking anything I could find in my cupboard sinks.

When I woke up to the hustle and bustle of the traffic below from the city life, I groaned in frustration hitting my alarm clock ticking away at 6am.

Lifting my head from the bed, I automatically feel sick seeing the amount of vodka or whiskey bottles smashed on the floor.

"Fuck" I moan getting to my feet.

"Sort yourself out Ry, be there for your son." I keep repeating over in my head whilst showering and sobering myself up.

"I need to find a lawyer." I think to myself, but what better way to piss Bee off then use Paul, after all he still is my solicitor and will be able to help me in this area.

I ring up his office, scheduling a meeting for first thing this morning at 9am sharp. I want the ball rolling on this and dont intend to wait any longer.

Striding through his building at 8.55am I head straight to the 6th floor, noticing that Bee isnt around or started yet, I decide to take a seat in Paul office and wait for his arrival.

5minutes later I hear the ding of the elevator followed by heels walking across the wooden laminate floor.
In walks Bee, closely followed by Paul who's hand lingers to the small of her back, I watch as she sets up behind her desk as he kisses her forehead before entering his office.

"What are you doing here?" Said Paul, as he shuts his office door.

"Good to see you too, I'm your 9am." I smirk.

"Oh right, well I havent checked my clients for today so didnt realise." He now takes his seat opposite me.

"So what can I do for you Ryder?" He questions.

"Let's the cut the bullshit and get straight to the point,shall we?" I grit my teeth.

"And what point would that me?" He stares back, trying to rile me.

"The point about me having a son I've not known about for at least the last two years as his so called mother hid him from me, I want to go for shared custody and I want you to set the ball rolling as off today?"

"You want me to help you? " Paul sighs before continuing. "The thing is Ryder, Biancas my partner so if I work with you I'll lose her." His face looking torn.

"Well the choice is yours, you either take my case, or you dont. It's simple really if you do, you'll get more money to pump into your empire here, or if you dont I'll pull out all my assets and shares in this place when I signed for LFC along with all my sponsor ship deals and find some other lawyer to do the job for me." I grin wickedly knowing I've got him over a barrel.

"That's not fair,and you know it. Fuck" he hisses.

"Yeap, it's not, just like the fact me not knowing I didnt have a child for nearly 3 years isnt fair also. Look I'm not blaming you Paul, you seem a good man but what Biance did to me was wrong and now I want to make things right and spend time with my son. " I reiterate.

I watch as Paul studies my face, twirling the pen around in his hand.

"Uummmm Bianca can you come in for a second." I hear him say over the phone.

Within a few second Bee walks in, all smiles until she sees me sitting on the opposite side of the desk.

"Ryder, what are you doing here? She whispers out.

"I'm here to see Paul I have some business to attend and was willing to make Paul a deal he couldn't refuse, isnt that right? " I turn to Paul, his face red with anger.

"What kind if deal?" Bee asked as she looked between us both.

Nothing we both sit in silence, I wait for Paul to make his decision.

"I said what kind of deal? " Bee's voice now visabley louder.

"Bianca can we talk in private, after Ryder's gone?" Paul stands to usher her back out.

"This is the last and final time I'll say it what kind of deal? Paul? Ryder? Will one of you god dam tell me!" Bee begins to shout.

"Fine, ok. I'm taking on Ryders case. " Paul looks over to me.

"Well that's great news, just what I wanted to here, I'll let you set up the paperwork and start sorting arrangements out for me. Give me a call with updates. I'll leave you too it." I smirk as I head to the door.

"Hang on, what deal has Paul accepted?" Bee looks to me.

"I'll let you discuss the full ins and outs with Paul, but long story short his helping me fight for joint custody of David." I smile with great satisfaction.

Her face drops, I watch as her bottom lip starts to quiver.

"Paul, please tell me you didnt? Your not? Please tell me it's not true? " she pleads.

"Bianca, we will discuss this matter after." Paul continues to act professional.

"Oh sorry one more thing I forgot to mention to you Paul, she said she still loved me and wanted to give us another try." I take one more glance at her teary face then to his furious one before I walk out the door.

I'm  outside the building knowing I'll be regretting the decisions I've just made but I needed her to understand i wont be walked over anymore.
