40. Climax

Silence overtook the moment, only to be interrupted by the sound coming from the twins' phones. Endeavor had no time left, so he simply barked out for them to follow him, which they did not do, as they both looked at their screens, comparing the identical messages coming from the phone of one of their classmates. It was a location, a very specific one at that. They looked at each other for a second, getting ready to follow their father to inform the situation before leaving. As they were getting ready an explosion caught Kira's attention. Smoke and fire grew in the distance, there was no time to inform anyone.

—Tell dad I'm sorry, and that I went where the explosions are taking place. You go with Midoriya. I'll be there as soon as we finish this issue.

Shoto took her by the wrist, making direct eye contact with her as her expression morphed into a defiant one. She had no time for the sentimental bullshit right now.

—I'll live, don't worry. I'm ready.

She said, shaking Shoto's hand off her wrist before the flames coming from her chest surrounded her body as she ran across the roof to use her fire as wings. Pushing herself forward at full speed. She had no idea what was going on, yet she hoped it would be handled by the time she got there.

Her cape flew behind her, taking the shape of her fake wings as her speed increased due to her fire getting higher temperatures by the minute. It was normal, at least for her, to need some seconds of heating before her usual power came to the temperature. Fire was quite temperamental to handle in situations like that, her feelings were responsible for how it reacted to the changes and if anything was a tiny bit out of place she could easily kill anyone.

As the girl reached the main point of battle she saw two nomus, surrounded by a group of pro heroes while some of the passersby stood there, shocked at the image. The girl cursed out as she landed near them coughing their attention, luckily.

—Sir, ma'am please, I ask you to go to safety. You are in grave danger here.

The student said as her hand instantly went up, lighting up blue flames to counteract the existing ones closing up around them. Panic filled their eyes as they nodded and ran from the scene, stumbling while Kira turned around to fully concentrate and create a ring of flame to try and control those in the battle and keep them at bay, trying to extinguish as much as possible.

—Kid! What are you...

—Blue! Blue Phoenix! My fire is stronger than these flames, helps to keep them at bay, if you use water they will react badly, these are produced by oil, let me handle it, you fight that shit!

The girl yelled at the pro as her flames grew higher than those in the field, merging with them as one while the white-haired put them down. She was managing that side easily yet as another explosion came, her concentration snapped, letting the flames free of their mistress, making her ring of protection unstable.

—Fucking hell, you have to be fucking joking.

She mumbled, letting the fire from her chest merge with the flames surrounding her arms. From afar it looked like a flowing river that drowned its owner with the current, yet it was quite the opposite. The secret to her fire was exactly that. The fire from her chest was stronger, of higher temperature and more balanced than the flames produced in a rush from any other part of her body. The downside was simple, it made her weaker, prone to burn herself and unable to move, yet, as she hadn't practiced that technique for long enough.

The fire took possession of her body as the flames grew higher, finally forming the ring of protection she had envisioned. Her undereye flames grew, being noticeable even with her hood on. At this point, she barely looked human, and as her flames started to calm down red ones appeared on the horizon. The girl recognized her father as he landed in the middle of her ring while she stabilized the flame around, keeping her frame covered in flames while he battled the nomu, burning him up to a no recovery point.
