Uneasy

Athena POV

I walk into my house after the long day I just had I want nothing but to just collapse on my bed and sleep.  I see both my "parents" sitting in the living room watching TV without a care in the world. They heard the front door shut and their heads turned in my direction.

My stepdad burst out laughing as soon as he saw me.

"What happened to you", he asked in between his laughter.

"I got into a fight", I reply not wanting to tell them the whole truth.

"And you lost, honestly that's so embarrassing for you", he says with a smile.

"Whatever", I mumble under my breath.

I turn and look at my mom who hasn't said anything so far. She just stares at me with a weird look on her face.

"Is that why their school kept calling me today", she questions.

I just nod and stare at the floor.

"Next time tell your school not to call me, I was at work and my phone kept blowing up. Whatever it is I'm sure you can handle it", she says.

They don't bother to further question why I got beat up. It's not surprising that they don't even care.

I mumble a quick "ok", and run up the stairs to my room.

I get out my phone and I see a text from Will telling me to call him.

I call and barely one ring in he answers. As soon as I heard his voice I couldn't stop the big goofy smile from forming on my face.

"Hey, how do you feel", he asks for the hundredth time today.

"Yeah, I'm good, just a little sore though", I reply.

"Are you going to school tomorrow", he asks.

"Y-yeah I am", I stutter not knowing how he'd react because of all that happened today.

"I don't think that's a good idea", he says worriedly.

"I'll stay far away from her and draw as little attention to myself as possible", I say trying to reassure him.

"If something happens just call me and I'll come get you", he replies.

"Ok", I whisper shyly. That fact that he cares so much gives me a weird fuzzy feeling in my chest.

God my cheeks hurt from smiling so much.

"Alright it's getting late you need to go to sleep", he says.

I sigh dramatically, "ok".

"Bye love, I'll see you tomorrow", he says softly.

My heart speeds up at the pet name, "bye".

I plug my phone and put it on my nightstand before wrapping myself up in my warm blanket and falling asleep.

Will POV

I finish calling Athena and I can't help the big smile on my face.

I can't forget what happened today. The girl that hurt Athena is in for a rude awakening.

I made another phone call to finalize my plans.

I stalk in the girl's direction. I've been following her since she left her house. She stops to check her phone and I take the chance to grab her from the back keeping her in a headlock.
