Chapter 21

It was a couple months later, when Kate found out some interesting news. She wanted to tell Castle right away but tomorrow was there monthly family dinner that they now had, so she was going to wait to break the news to him then.

In the meantime, she would just go to work and hopefully the morning sickness won't kick in, at all, or that would ruin her little surprise.

They finished up a case today, good thing the dead bodies weren't strong enough to make her throw up. Kate and Rick rode home together and picked up Chinese on the way home.

He walked into the loft, Kate behind her, and set the food down on the counter. Kate opened the bag up and taking out their food. She put the food on their plates.

"Wine?" Castle asked already grabbing two glasses.

"Um, no. I will just have a water," Kate answered.

"Really?" he turned around and looked at her. "Since when does Kate Beckett turn down wine?"

"Wine with Chinese food isn't good. I don't like it," she didn't even look at him. Didn't want to make eye contact in case he found out just through her eyes.

"Oh, right," he winced and out the glasses away.

It was finally the next day and Kate couldn't hold it in any longer. Last night she almost told him but then made a good enough excuse for him to believe her.

The Castle and Beckett family were gathered around the table. The chicken was on the table, looking delicious, and they all dug in. She was going to wait until everyone ate and they were all sitting in the living room.

Around half an hour later, they were gathered together sitting on couches and chairs in the living room.

"So, Katie, Richard, when are there going to be little Castle babies running around?" Johanna asked. Rick looked over at Kate who was smiling.

"We haven't really discussed that yet. Maybe in couple years? Who knows?" He shrugged.

"Well, actually, that couple years is a little bit sooner," Kate said. They all looked over at her with wide eyes and she looked at Castle.

"Katherine Beckett-Castle, are you saying what I think your saying?" He asked.

She shrugged and smiled, "If you're thinking what I'm saying is that I'm pregnant, than yes, that's what I'm saying."

He stood up quickly, her after, and pulled her in for a long hug. "We're gonna have a baby, Kate," he whispered in her ear.

"I know," she whispered back, tears falling on his shirt. Damn hormones. He pulled away, taking her face in his hands and leaned down to kiss her. They smiled as they heard clapping and some 'aw's'.

"God, I love you," he whispered against her lips.

"I love you too, Castle," they leaned their foreheads against each other and smiled.

He stepped away from her so she would hug her mom and dad. "Congratulations Katie. I'm so happy for you." Johanna said into her ear as they were hugging.

They separated and she hugged her dad, "Congratulations, Katie. I love you and can't wait to be a grandpa."

"Thanks Dad, I love you too," she pulled away and whipped her tears. She turned to Martha and Alexis.

"Congrats Katherine!" Martha gave her a hug.

"Thank you, Martha," they parted and it was Alexis's turn.

"Congratulations, Kate. I'm glad I will finally have a younger brother or sister and I can't wait. I love you," Kate hugged the red head tighter.

"Thank you Alexis, I love you too," when they pulled away Kate had tears streaming down her face. She whipped them away angrily.

"Ugh, this is gonna suck with these hormones for the next 8-9 months," they all let out a laugh.

"Okay, who's up for desert?" Alexis announced. The Beckett's raised their hands and followed the two red haired woman into the kitchen, leaving Rick and Kate alone.

"So, that's why you didn't drink wine last night and at dinner. I was wondering what was going on," she turned to him when he spoke.

"Mhmm," she smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"We are having a baby. A little Castle baby," he said, still not believing it.

She chuckled, "Yes, Castle. We are having a Castle baby."

Another tear fell down her cheek, his arm raised so he could wipe it away with his thumb.

"There are no words to describe how much I love you right now."

"Then show me," she smirked as his face lit up. "After they leave, Castle." she warned.

"I don't know if I can wait that long," he smiled and leaned down to kiss her. She pulled him closer and his arms wrapped around her waist.

"They are so adorable," Martha cooed, looking at the couple. The other three looked at them.

"I've never seen anyone so in love with each other before in my life," Johanna said.

"I know. All those years that Katie has dated guys, she's never looked at any of them the way she looks at Castle," Jim told them.

"It makes me jealous," Alexis piped in, getting a laugh from the other three.

"We should probably stop them before it gets a little too much. It's happened before," Jim and Johanna looked at Martha and then Alexis who was nodding with huge eyes, telling them that it scared her for life. "Katherine, Richard, you're missing out on dessert!" Martha called over.

Kate and Rick pulled apart smiling. He quickly kissed her one more time before taking her hand in his and walked over into the kitchen.
