Chapter 014: A Care

Austin's POV:

That night I had some struggle with sleeping. I would awake throughout the night and check on Alex. He is my best friend, the brother who I never had. I was so grateful to not only have the guys there, but to have Jaylynn with me. She didn't fret or mind me getting up. She'd only hold me; as a mother would hold her child, and whisper sweet words as she tried to help me relax.

Her actions reminded me of my own mother. It always felt warm and safe. Just like how Jaylynn's feels. Jaylynn would kiss me and rub her fingers through my hair; the actions soothing me. I managed to stay asleep that time.

The next morning, Jaylynn wasn't beside me. Smelling the food from downstairs, I assumed maybe she or someone was cooking. Going to the bathroom and then to Alex's room, I see Jaylynn sitting besides Alex. She helped him sit up right, feeding him some soup and dabbing a cloth on his forehead. "You made yourself sick.. Listen, Alex. Not only as Austin's girlfriend, but as a friend, I'm always here to listen. If you ever feel that way, under no circumstance, you come to one of us. You're not alone, and we all care for you."

My heart swelled and a smile was brought to my lips. There was even one on Alex's. Seeing Jaylynn being so caring and thoughtful, made think how lucky I really am. She was kind enough to bring him breakfast, even feed, and care for him. Usually I would feel jealous, but at this moment, I'm just happy to see life coming back to Alex. After feeding, she helped him lay down and with some medicine, he fell asleep.

As she closed the door and turned around, she bumped into me. "Austin, I didn't see you there. Ah, you woken up earlier than I hoped. I was thinking of bringing you some breakfast in bed. Is there-" I cut her off and give her a passionate kiss, my arms placed on her hips. "You have to be the most wonderful and most beautiful human being ever. And I am grateful for you."

"I really don't want to be here.." muttered Alex. Jaylynn persisted that we take him to a hospital, to at least have him checked out. Zach and Robert wanted to come, but had other important engagements. I swear, it felt as if Jaylynn and I are parents, and Alex is our child who refuses to see the doctor. I chuckle to myself at the thought.

Getting him checked in, the doctor began doing some examinations, frequently asking us questions on symptoms, moods, or anything triggering. I could see Alex bite his lip and constantly glance at Jaylynn. Was something wrong? Was something on her face? -I mean other than her beauty- Or was there something more? I wasn't sure, but I would ask him once he is good to go.

Thankfully, Alex was alright. He was prescribed some anxiety medication and was given some brochures on how to cope and gain control over the anxiety. Jaylynn came back in the room with a bear and handed him over to Alex. "His name is Cappuccino and he is there to always help you when you feel sad, mad, or sick. Friend to the end!" I think I just died and came back to life. Jaylynn is literally the cutest thing ever. "Geez, Jay, I'm not a baby. But thank you so much for everything." He laughs.

"Bingo. I got you to smile." She giggles.

Leaving the hospital and going back home, there were cookies and 'Get Well' balloons and even some flowers in the dining area. I see Alex's parents and even my mother there. "Mom." I immediately pull my mother into a hug, as Alex's mother does the same with him. "I heard what happened. Are you guys alright? Don't scare us like that!" They scolded.

I saw my mother look behind me, her eyebrows furrowing for a quick moment before disappearing. "Who's this?"

I may have teased the moment where Alex may come clean as to why he experienced his attack, but decided to make you guys wait a bit longer. I'm that evil. 😈 Oh god, that was cringy. I'll stop LOL
