This school wasn't too different from the previous school that Alexander had attended. The only noticeable difference was the vast amount of social groups. There were the typical groups such as the: jocks, cheerleaders, druggies and music geeks. But there were also the: nerds, emo's, punk rock, goth, burnouts, and teacher pets. Alexander guessed that he fit in somewhere between the nerds and the punk rock kids. He listened to metal, rock, punk rock, and alternative but he also was a major nerd... he was proud of these things.

...

Alexander walked into the school office and was greeted by a forty year old woman, who was sitting in a chair fixed with wheels. She was smacking a piece of chewing gum rather loudly and ignoring him. He cleared his throat.

"What can I do for you." She said without looking up from her computer

"My name is Alexander Langdon and I'm new here." Alexander said

She turned to face him, the name tag on her blouse read Mrs. Hanson. Rolling the chair towards the other side of the room, she opened a large filing cabinet and pulled out a manila envelope.

"In this folder you will find a map of the school, your locker combination and location, class schedule, your teacher's emails and a letter from the school board." Mrs. Hanson explained

Alexander grabbed the envelope once she rolled over to the front desk.

"Is there anything else you need?" Mrs. Hanson asked as she chewed her gum annoyingly

"I'll be fine, thanks." Alexander said as he turned to leave the office

Walking down the hall, he pulled out his schedule. It read:

1st Period- Study Hall

2nd Period- Graphic Design

3rd Period- Algebra 2

LUNCH

4th Period- Library Aide

5th Period- Advanced Placement English

6th Period- Economics

Next thing he knew, he was on the ground. His backpack had fallen by his side and a tall, muscular boy stood over him... his glare literally almost killed him.

"Watch where you're going, freak." The boy said

"Sorry, I was just looking at my schedule." Alexander mumbled as he stood up

The boy grabbed him by the front of his shirt and pulled him closer. He noticed that the boy was wearing a football jersey.

"What'd you say?" The boy snapped

"I said I was sorry and I was just looking at my schedule." Alexander told

This scene had caused every student in the hallway to look at the jock holding the defenseless new kid. Alexander felt like he was suddenly in a cliche high school movie. Surprisingly, the jock let go of his shirt and bent down to pick up Alexander's schedule.

"Not only are you a freak, but you are a nerd. AP English, who takes that class as a senior?" The boy remarked

Alexander was wearing a My Chemical Romance shirt, black jeans, a pair of vans and had his hair parted to the side. The jock finally noticed this.

"My Chemical Romance... really? Are you emo too, that would just top it all. Listen now and listen good cause I feel like we'll be seeing each other a lot more. My name is Kevin Packard, I am quarterback of the football team, and I am dating the hottest girl that this lame school has ever seen. Watch your back." Kevin said

"Go to hell." Alexander muttered under his breath

Kevin had heard exactly what he'd said because he decked Alexander right in the face. Alexander fell to the ground (again). Kevin placed Alexander's schedule on Alexander's shirt and walked away. As he tried to stand up, blood dripped onto the floor and his schedule. But luckily his guardian angel swooped in to save him (no she did not literally swoop in and grab him but that would have been nice). It was Daisy. She picked up his backpack, slung it on her back and with one hand, led Alexander away from the crowded hallway.

...

"I'm sorry that douche-canoe did that to you." Daisy comforted

"It is fine, thanks for helping me back there." Alexander whispered

Daisy helping had hurt his "male ego"... for heaven's sake, a girl had defended him. Yet he honestly appreciated her effort and that dashed the previous feelings. The bell rang for school to start. School hadn't even started and he'd already been beat up!

"I better get to class. I'll see you at lunch. Thanks again, I mean it." Alexander said awkwardly

...

He pulled out the map of the school as he thought about the mysterious girl with long dark hair and piercing blue eyes. That made his day a little better.
