*TW FOR THIS CHAPTER OF THE STORY*
Walking through the halls at school was always treacherous. It helped to not stand out from the constant flow of people going from place to place. If you did stand out, you were very fortunate if you made it out alive without even a taunt or jeer. Sadly, today was a day that Daisy was out of luck.
Alexander was walking to the library when he heard yelling and laughing. A swarm of students were assembled in the middle of the hallway. He sped up his pace to go and investigate what was so entertaining. Once he saw what the source of the entertainment was he wished that he hadn't. Daisy was kneeling on the floor of the hall with her arms wrapped tightly against her body and Kevin was trying to pry them loose.
"Come on you freak! Show everyone your scars. You cutters are so desperate for attention." Kevin mocked
Pushing students aside, Alexander made his way towards Kevin.
"Oh look, here comes your emo boyfriend to save you. Maybe everyone would enjoy seeing his scars more." Kevin chided
Alexander hadn't cut in about a year and a half, but the scars still remained. Kevin overpowered him and pulled the sleeves of Alexander's shirt back. His faded red scars appeared in the dazzling light of the hallway. Anger welled up inside him and Kevin let him go.
"Would you look at that, I was right." Kevin said
Alexander charged Kevin and tackled him. Once Kevin was on the ground he started to punch Kevin repeatedly in the face. Anger engulfed Alexander's mind and he blacked out.
...
When he awoke he was in his bed at home. How had he gotten here? His parents were definitely going to kill him once they found out that he'd been in a fight at school. That douche-canoe deserved it. He turned his head and was surprised and pleased to find Daisy sitting in a chair beside his bed. Her sleeves were pulled back which exposed the scars on her wrist. Her hair was messy and mascara had run down her face.
"Did you bring me here?" Alexander asked
"You blacked out in the hall, but you were somewhat semi-conscious later and we left the school. I used your telephone downstairs and impersonated your mom. Don't worry they fell for it and you are excused for the rest of the day." Daisy explained
"Words cannot describe how sorry I am that Kevin put you through that. I should have helped instead of stood there." Alexander said
"Are you kidding me? You did help. You basically sacrificed your own self security for me and you beat the crap out of Kevin. I'm sure he will go and cry to his daddy, but I would not be too worried." Daisy said
"Can I see your wrist?" Alexander asked
Daisy let Alexander examine her wrist. The most noticeable was a cut that had been made a few days before.
"I know this IS extremely personal, but what was the reason for the very first time and the most recent time?" Alexander questioned
"The first time was in the eighth grade because a group of girls ganged up on me and told me to kill myself. The last time was because someone anonymously texted me and told me that I am a waste of space and should kill myself. You?" Daisy told
"My first time was in eighth grade. In the locker room during P.E. all the guys called me a gay, fat piece of shit. The last time was when a close friend told me to kill myself." Alexander explained
Alexander leaned down and kissed Daisy's scarred wrist.
"I kissed the scars on her skin. I still think you're beautiful and I don't ever wanna lose my best friend." Alexander said
Daisy smiled.
"Pierce The Veil, nice." Daisy said
...
Later that night, Kevin's dad called Mr. and Mrs. Langdon. Alexander didn't want his parents to know about his scars, but he had to tell them that Kevin was a monster. The time would come for all that...
