"How was your first day of school?" Janice Langdon asked
Why did his mother have to be such a typical, suburban parent?
"It was alright I guess. I mean it is high school so of course it is going to suck." Alexander replied
"Your father and I had a fantastic high school experience." Janice said
"That was back in your day. Times have changed. The kids are savage, teachers could care less about their students, and the jocks and popular kids prey on the weak and unique. Besides dad and you were probably popular or went to a small high school." Alexander remarked
"Oh Alexander, I wish you weren't so cynical sometimes." Janice said
Alexander's dad interrupted them and helped change the subject.
"Do you want to go to the movies or at least hang out sometime this weekend?" Sam Langdon asked
"Can we go to the movies? I'd love to go to the movies and then maybe the mall." Alexander answered
"Sounds like a plan." Sam Langdon said
"Can I be excused from the table?" Alexander asked
His mother excused him.
...
Alexander had set up a writing room in the attic, it was his quiet and peaceful place. Even though it was terribly dusty it was still a nice place to relax and think. An old wooden desk sat facing the small window that overlooked the backyard. That desk had come with an old wooden chair that was surprisingly still intact. He had moved an old arm chair from his previous home into the attic as well. Most people would find the idea of spending time in a dusty attic serial killer-ish, but Alexander loved it.
He was deep into writing his story on his laptop when his cell phone vibrated in his pocket. The number that appeared on the screen was local so he decided to answer the call.
"Hey Alexander, is it alright if I come over?" Daisy asked
His parents would make things awkward and who knows what they would say to him if he asked if a girl could come over.
"How'd you get my number?" Alexander asked
"Spoilers." Daisy said
"Doctor Who reference, fantastic." Alexander said
"Enough flirting haha, is it fine if I come over?" Daisy asked
"You can come over, but bring a tape measure, scissors, thermometer and ruler. I'm going to lie and say that you are a friend from school and that we need to work on a project." Alexander explained
"Alright, I'll be over in a few minutes." Daisy replied
...
"Mom... dad, this is Daisy. She is my partner in graphic design and we need to work on a project." Alexander said
His parents shook hands with Daisy. She was wearing a short black dress and vans. Before his parents could say anything embarrassing, he grabbed her hand and led her up the stairs and into his room. Once they were both in his room he shut the door.
"So what did you need to talk to me about?" Alexander asked
"My parents got into an argument again and I needed to get out of there. I know it is last minute, but thanks for having me over." Daisy said
"You should be honored, you are the first girl (excluding my mother) to be in my room." Alexander said
"Why I am honored! I get to hang out with a nerdy boy. They are the best kind of people." Daisy remarked
Alexander's room was dimly lit and he was glad because Daisy could not see him blushing. Girls and people in general never gave him compliments (well compliments that boosted his self esteem).
"I've decided that we should actually do something related to graphic design, but not a project. Maybe fan art or something fandom related. So which fandom should we choose?" Alexander asked
"That is a tough choice because I enjoy so many! Hmm... how about we do something with SuperWhoLock?" Daisy remarked
"Works for me. Lets get started." Alexander said
...
Alexander had enjoyed his night hanging out with Daisy and he was not worried that he had stayed up so late because it was Friday the next day.
"I'm going to take Daisy home. I'll be right back." Alexander said
He opened the front door and let Daisy walk out into the warm summer air. Being an avid fan of Supernatural, Alexander has saved up enough money to buy a Chevy Impala that looked like the one from the show. Daisy was extremely excited to be riding in such a vehicle.
"I feel like I'm in an episode of Supernatural!" Daisy exclaimed
"I'll pick you up Saturday and we can go to the diner and get some apple pie." Alexander said
"I'll tell if I can go tomorrow at school." Daisy said
Daisy did not live very far from where Alexander did. Her house was an old wooden, campy looking place. He stopped and parked the Impala. He took the keys out of the ignition, put them in his pocket and exited the vehicle. Alexander opened Daisy's door for her and escorted her to the front porch.
"I had a lot of fun tonight. Thanks for putting up with me." Daisy said
"It was no problem. We should hang out more. You are pretty chill." Alexander replied
Daisy tightly hugged him. He did not really like people touching him and he was not used to it. Alexander could smell the perfume that she wore, it smelled like cinnamon and he could also feel her body against his. It sort of turned him on. He broke away from her before anything embarrassing happened.
"See you tomorrow and thanks again for earlier today." Alexander said
"You are quite welcome. See you tomorrow." Daisy said
