ᶜʰᵃᵖᵗᵉʳ ᶠᵒᵘʳ. "ᵖʰᵒⁿᵉ"

sae-bom honestly had no clue how to feel.

with the continuous sounds of screaming, running, and snarling outside of the room, a range of emotions rushed through her.

though, the one thing she knew was that she was alone.

there was no one else inside the room when she entered earlier. it was a vacant classroom, with no one but desks, chairs, and a bunch of other items. it was an empty classroom.

she'd been sitting down for about a couple of minutes now. after feeling the shock die down, she carefully stood back up.

the zombies outside had already strayed away, though remained guard outside in the hallways. she turned around quietly, looking out the window. there, she could see multiple people still running from the same creatures outside the room.

she then turned around again, walking towards the door, lookin out the glass window. upon inspecting the creatures appearance, she let out a small whistle. "definitiely a zombie."

sae-bom walked back towards the desks, placing her bag on top of it. she closed her eyes for a couple of seconds, trying to compose herself, before opening it again. the distinct sounds outside was definitely getting on her nerves, so she took her left airpod out of its case, and putting it on her ear. did she care that she might die cause one ear was deaf? no. if anything, she would rather have music playing in her ear as she fights zombies. it sets the mood.

the girl scrolled through her contacts, finding her mother's phone number. upon finding it, she pressed on the number, and waited for her to answer. "what'd you do now sae-bom--"

"i didn't do anything wrong! i promise!" she exclaimed, "if anything, there's something wrong with this school..."

as she held the phone in her hand, she walked towards the window, watching as the zombies began to escape through the school gate. "why? what's going on? why are you on your phone right?"

she sighed, "hey ma, lock all the doors in the house. i want you and se-bin to stay inside." she told them. "don't open the doors for anyone, or even if you hear any screams out there."

"what? what's happening? sae-bom if you're playing a joke right now-"

"i'm not. i promise." she cut her off. "i just want you and se-bin to stay safe."

"sae-bom i'll ask again, what's happening? your tone is worrying me."

she let out a soft chuckle. "i don't know, but there's these zombie-looking creatures running around. and before you say this is a joke, i promise you. it's not. please stay safe, lock the doors and block them. i'll call ha-neul and tell him to go to our house to protect you guys. i love you."

"sae-bom--"

she didn't know why she hung up as soon as she did. i guess she was just too scared to hear her mom grow even more worried. majority of her life, she'd cause trouble to her just cause of all the stupid shit she did, and now that there's a chance that she might die, she doesn't really have the time to make up for it.

scrolling through her contacts again, she looked for ha-neul's number. once the line began contacting. "why are you calling me when you're at school-"

"i'm going to fucking shit my pants ha-neul, help." she immediately stated.

"what? did you eat something bad or do somet-"

"since when the fuck were zombies a thing?! and how come they had to start at my fucking school?!" she asked in a frantic tone, the girl growing even more anxious.

"calm down, kid. what are you talking about-"

"i'm talking about the man-eating creatures here! they're eating everyone and i'm fucking scared that i would be next!!" she screamed into the phone, yet not too loud for the zombies outside to hear her.

"okay, okay, sae-bom i need you to calm down-"

"i cannot fucking calm down when i could die any second." she cut him off. "nevermind that. i want you to go down to my mom and se-bin and protect them. i can't be too sure that these creatures wouldn't be able to stay put, so my best hope in protecting my family is to have someone armed with them."

there was no response coming from the other end for a couple of seconds, until ha-neul spoke again. "look kid, how do i know you're not playing some sick joke on me-"

"do you think i'd be playing some joke right now?! i may do illegal shit but i wouldn't make a call to you just to joke about my family's life." she added seriously. a sigh then left her mouth, upon realising her anger. "please, ha-neul. protect them."

she heard a sigh on the other end of the line, followed by ha-neul speaking. "i'll see what i can do kid. this is the first time i've heard you talk like this, so i'll trust you. stay safe sae-bom. don't die."

despite it being the wrong time, she let out a small laugh, the girl letting a smirk grow on her face after. "you know i won't."

"ᵖʰᵒⁿᵉ"

as one ear was listening to music, and the other listened onto their fucked up reality, searched through her bag that may help her out in her situation.

yeah no she was fucked.

"is this all i really have..?" she muttered to herself, sweat dropping at the items that she scattered onto the table. all she had were a couple of pens, food scraps, a couple of cigarette packs, two or three lighters, her small portable speaker, and her powerbank and charger. "well at least now i know my phone won't be dying."

she then looked around the room, trying to see if there would be anything that could be used as a weapon. her eyes then noticed a couple of items.

after gathering the items, she placed them back onto the desk. she found a mop, a large can of air freshener, a pair of large scissors, and a roll of duct tape. she glanced over these items with a somewhat-proud smile, "i think i can manage with these..."

she then grabbed the mop, breaking off the head of it by kicking it off with her foot. however that sounded much easier than it seemed. after at least 5 minutes, the mop head was broken off, leaving sae-bom the body itself.

lifting the broken part up to eye level, she grabbed the pair of scissors as well as the duct tape. connecting them together. now she had herself a spear.

"now i just hope this tape holds it together well..." she murmured, putting it aside. she then grabbed her lighter, as well as the air freshener can. she intended to use that as a flame thrower, though she didn't really know how she'd be able to use that without getting bitten first.

she pressed on the ignition button, allowing an orange flame to appear. she then turned herself towards an open space, then pressing on the release of the air freshener. as the liquid made contact with the flame, a larger one appeared as it went through it.

her eyes widened followed by her mouth opening in a widened smile. "fuck yeah!"

her cheer was heard by the zombie outside, as the girl was suddenly startled by a sudden thud on the door. her eyes darted to a zombie trying to get in, causing her body to slouch lower on the chair.

"so they're sensitive to noise then..." she thought bitterly, slouching as she eat down.

an idea then came to her mind as she looked at her portable speaker.
