sae-bom turned her sight of direction from the field of zombies, to dae-su trying to kick the supply room door open. a non-chalant expression formed itself on her face, as the third cigarette she's had that hour hung loosely from her hand, face going blank at his stupidity.

i mean, not only did he create some banging, but the zombies outside of the door seemed to as well. gyeong-su and joon-yeong immediately ran towards each door, holding it up to prevent the zombies from entering or breaking the door down. "ya- keep it down! you gotta be quiet!"

but joon-yeong's words flew out through dae-su's other ear, as he kept on banging his fist against the door. sae-bom watched the scene unfold, blank eyes staring at his desperateness. she understood that he was really hungry, along with desperate for food, but banging his fist against the door like that wouldn't open it. it's not like there was someone else at the other side.

"ya, you're going to die from zombies faster than from hunger if you keep banging the door." sae-bom called out, her voice reaching his ears. the boy immediately stopped, retracting his fist from the door.

no chatter between the group continued after that, as they all believed they were going to die in there. can you blame them? they were stuck in a classroom in the middle of the school, zombies were flooding the hallways, they had no source of food, and they didn't know whether they were going to be rescued or not.

exhaling out the puff of smoke she had inhaled, sae-bom simply turned her head back towards the field. she had her airpods plugged in, simply ignoring the world outside as she then closed her eyes. her body was completely still, sitting on the window sill, a leg dangling out the window as she leant against the window frame.

she told herself that she wouldn't give up, but with the atmosphere surrounding the room, she couldn't help but do so. she was exhausted, and all she wanted was to curl up in her bed, sleep underneath her covers. maybe she could have se-bin barging in her room, annoying her to play with her, or maybe her mom yelling at her for the millionth time about spending the night in a cell.

it didn't matter, all she wanted was to be in the presence of her family.

she relaxed herself, completely trying to shut out those thoughts, saving them for when she actually sees them. she thought that the music was supposed to calm her down - i mean, it's what it normally did. however, the girl couldn't but slowly grow frustrated by the minute.

despite having her airpods in, sae-bom could still hear the small noises outside. like, people speaking, crying, nails clicking, and even breathing. it all bothered her, and only she realised how loud it truly was when she tried to make her music louder, only for it to reveal that it was already at the highest setting.

annoyed, the girl took the airpods out, only for a deafening silence to hit her.

"are you alright?" gyeong-su asked, noticing the girl's sudden change in emotion. sae-bom turned her head at him, her frustrated look softening once she saw the worried look on the boy's face.

she nodded, "yeah, just frustrated is all."

the boy then scoffed. "since when did your music make you frustrated?"

she then rolled her eyes at him. "it's not because of my music, you little-"

"music." on-jo suddenly mumbled out, catching the attention of everyone in the room. "we have music."

"what are you talking about?" cheong-san asked, watching as the girl suddenly walked towards the camera on the table.

on-jo turned to them, a small smile on her face. "i have a plan."

"in other words, you're saying that we stack chairs, desks, and whatever else we could find, in the middle here." cheong-san re-stated, pointing at the spot that he stood, which was directly in the middle of the room. "and then we open the front door, and run through the back, right?"

"not here in the middle, further back." on-jo pointed, her finger at the spot behind cheong-san.

"why do we need it further back?" dae-su asked, looking up at the girl as he was sitting down.

"there's more zombies than there is us. they'll need more space." on-jo answered, earning a somewhat pleased look from dae-su.

"ah..." dae-su then looked up to joon-yeong, who was standing behind him. "she sucks at school but she's pretty smart-"

"ya-"

"it's a compliment." cheong-san immediately cut her off, not wanting the girl to get mad. "so we should start then."

everyone then scrambled around the room, piling up chairs, tables, desks and such at the spot on-jo pointed at earlier, as some others (joon-yeong and nam-ra) sorted out the music aspect. they stacked different items over each other, building a wall of multiple objects high enough, leaving at least a meter space from the ceiling.

"you think this is going to work?" gyeong-su walked up to sae-bom, catching her attention.

the girl simply turned her head to him, a neutral expression on her face as she continued rolling up the rope - so that it'd be easier to use later on. "it could. but it could also backfire easily."

a sigh escaped his lips, leaning against the wall beside sae-bom, "i just wish that we finish up here quickly. that we get to the roof without anyone dying or getting hurt."

a hum slipped past the girl's mouth, "we will. my only concern is that i'll run out of cigarettes soon."

a smile of disbelief wavered over his face. "hey what if i die- actually, no. i'll ask it like this. would you trade me to the zombies for a pack of cigarettes?"

"yes."

"sae-bom!"

"i'm joking!" the girl laughed, catching the attention of others in the room, though the two sibling-like pair paid no mind. "i'd rather not smoke for the rest of my life than lose you, gyeong."

he huffed, "that's what i thought."

an amused scoff left sae-bom, "right. with that attitude, i think i'll take that cigarette pack."

"hey–!"

as sae-bom simply laughed even more at his reaction, along with profanities that continued to reason out his mouth about why he was worth more than a pack of cigarettes, sae-bom simply wished that it would stay like this. that he survives throughout this whole mess. and that her mother and sister were currently alive, either in her own home, or at the safe place.

but over at the younger child's perspective, young se-bin was currently having to deal with two police officers, who seem to bicker more than get to safety.
