Twenty-Three

Brooke sighed as she woke in bed. She knew that Adam had been trying so hard to get to her. And she felt like it was working. She felt so alone. Her mum hadn't even talked to her.

The door opened and Leigh walked in. She smiled. "Hey. You okay?" She asked as she looked to her.

Brooke nodded and sighed. She sat up. "Yeah I'm okay. I'm trying to find the energy to move."

Leigh smiled. She sat on the bed. "I'm sorry if Max and I kept you up?"

"No. Why? Were you giving Daisy a sibling?" She asked.

"We were arguing. He's been cheating on me. With Kim Campbell. Helen Hopewell too," Leigh said.

Brooke frowned. "Where is he now?"

"I don't know. I don't care either. My main focus is you and my daughter. Okay," Leigh said. She smiled. "Come on. Up for school."

Brooke walked into the common room. Tom was there. He looked to her. "You don't look well at all. Are you okay?" He asked.

Brooke nodded. "Yeah. I'm just having thoughts in my head. Nothing like what you're thinking. Just what I'm going to when I've finished school," she lied.

Tom smiled and nodded. "Well we can look into that together. But you sure that you're okay? I don't want you to be upset."

"I'm fine. I promise," she told him as she sat down and took out her essay.

Tom stood watching her for a few moments. He knew there was something bothering her. And he wanted to know what it was. Especially since he knew that she had been through so much.

Rachel saw Brooke sitting outside. She felt someone put an arm on her waist. She turned to see Adam. "Hi love. You okay?" Rachel said as she turned back to look at Brooke.

Adam nodded. "Yeah. Listen I've been thinking, why don't we pick up Daisy and Brooke tonight and take them shopping for the wedding? They need their dresses."

Rachel shook her head. "No. It's okay. Leigh and I will do that this weekend. She and Max have split up. He's been cheating on her so she will need a distraction."

Adam hid a smirk. He knew it was going to be easy to get to Brooke now Max Tyler wasn't around. "How about we go over there tonight then? Cook for them all," he said.

"I'll talk to Leigh."

Brooke walked along the corridors. Adam appeared next to her. She sighed. "Leave me alone. Now."

"I'll be seeing you tonight. Your mum and I are coming for dinner."

"No. Leigh wouldn't let you."

"We're calling it a surprise. It'll be nice to see Daisy. I haven't seen her in awhile," Adam said as he smirked.

Brooke shook her head. "No! You're not. I'll make sure you don't!"

Brooke went back home with Leigh. Max had Daisy for the night. "Mum said that she and Adam were coming over tonight. That's not happening. You know that right?" Leigh said as she looked to her.

Brooke nodded. She sighed. "I have nothing against mum. But I don't trust him. I think he's going to hurt me."

Leigh looked to her. She knew what Adam had said. How he was having an affair with Brooke. But was there something more going on?

Leigh pulled Brooke into a hug. She knew she had to keep her safe. But could Brooke prove that Adam was out to get her?
