Chapter 15

"Hopper adopted us?" I said, looking at her in shock. She smiles and nods her head. "We are officially sisters now..." she said, smiling happily at me. I grin happily. I rush towards her and pulls her into a hug. I'm so happy. I have a new home... a new family.

-The Snow Ball-

Y/N P.O.V

Mike is accompanying me to the graveyard. I want to pay a visit to my mom's grave. I have a bouquet of white roses in my arms. It was her favorite. I have my free hand in Mike's hand. He knew I'm going to need all the comfort I'll be needing.

After a while of walking, we finally reach her grave. I kneel down in front of her stone. I place the bouquet on the ground. I run my hand across her name. I feel my eyes swelling up in tears.

"Hello, mom..." I said. A tear escape my eyes. The rest soon follows. "I've never thank you... you were the first person that showed me love. You provide me with shelter and every thing I needed..." I said, as I start to cry softly. I take a few deep breath, trying to control my breathing.

I wipe away the tears, only for more to stream. I let out a soft sob. "You became my mother... you've became my stone. There will be no action that will EVER able to repay everything that you've done for me. I love you, Mom... even though you're not my biological mother. You've always acted like you are. You treated me like your own. Thank you so much for everything, mom. May you Rest In Peace. God have you in his arms... and I'll have you in my heart. Forever..." I said. I lean forward and place a soft kiss on top of her gravestone.

"Oh, you don't have to worry about me. I have El... I have Hopper. He have adopted me, along with El. We are a family now. I also have Mike and everyone else... I'm going to be okay, mom" I said, smiling at the stone in front of me.

I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn my head to see Mike. "We should probably go... Hopper wouldn't want you to be out in the open for too long. It's still not safe" he said. I just nod my head and turn to look at my mom's stone one more time. "I'll see you soon, mom... I'll come visit again. I promise" I said. I stand up and walks away with Mike.

Mike dropped me home. He gives me a soft kiss on my forehead. "I'll see you around, okay?" He said. I smile and nod my head. "See you around, Mike..." I said. He smiles at me and turns around. He get on his bike and wave at me. I wave back and watch him as he cycles away. Once he's out of sight, I enter the house.

Dad and El is sitting on the couch. Eleven is the first to notice me. "Y/N. You're back..." she said. Dad turn to look at me. "Welcome back, kid" he said. I smile and walks over to them. I take a seat in the middle of them. Dad ruffles my hair gently.

"How are you feeling?" He said. "Well... I cried. But that's normal, right?" I said. "Yeah... of course" he said, nodding his head. I smile at him and leans my head back.

"Hey, Dad..." I said, breaking the silence. He turns his head to look at me. "Yeah?" He said. "Um... do you think I can go to the Snow Ball with Mike and the others?" I said, fiddling with my fingers. He just stare at me for a few seconds. I let out a soft sigh, thinking he wouldn't let me.

"What are you waiting for? Go and get yourself ready for the Ball..." he said. My eyes lit up at what he just said. "Really, dad? I can go??" I said, excitedly. He smiles and nods his head. I let out a happy squeal and hugs him.

"Can El come too?" I asked. He turns to look at El. "Do you wanna go?" He asked. El nods her head eagerly. He nods his head. "Alright... go and get yourself ready" he said. I let out a squeal. "You're the best, dad! Come on, El!" I said. I grab her hand and pulls her to our room.

Time-skip

Dad pulls up by the school. "Go and have fun. Both of you..." he said. "Thanks, dad..." I said, giving his cheek a soft kiss. I give him a quick hug. Eleven do the same and gets out of the car. I get out of the car as well. I turn to dad and wave at her. Then the two of us make our way inside the school building.

We slowly walk towards the hall where the Snow Ball is being held. "Are you nervous, sis?" She said. I turn to look at her. "Yeah... a little. You?" I said. "A lot..." she said, making me let out a soft chuckle. "We'll be fine... come on" I said, linking my arm with hers. I take a deep breath and walks inside.

I scan through the many students, trying to look for one specific person. My eyes eventually landed on the person, who's sitting on a chair. He notices me too and stands up. I smile at him and we walk up to him. 

"Wow... you look beautiful. You too, El..." he said. I smile at him. "You look handsome, Mike" I said. He smiles at me. He turns to look at Eleven. "Do you mind?" He said. Eleven shakes her head. "Please..." she said. Mike smiles gratefully at her. He turns to look at me.

"Do you wanna dance?" He asked. I turn to look at the other students. "I don't know how..." I said. "I don't either. Do you want to figure it out?" He said. I nod my head, with a smile. He gently grabs my hand. I turn to look at Eleven. She smiles and nods. She ushers me to go with Mike to the dance floor.

Mike guides me to the dance floor and turns to face me. "Here... just place your hands here" he said. He lift my hands and place them on his shoulders. He smiles and nods his head. "Yeah... just like that..." he said. He place his hands on my hip. We slowly start to sway our body to the rhythm of the music.

I take a quick look around. I can see Dustin dancing with Nancy. Lucas and Max are dancing not far from us. I let out a giggle when Max suddenly kisses Lucas which left him stun. They eventually smiles at each other as they embrace.

"Y/N..." Mike said. I turn my head to look at him. He gently tuck a strand piece of hair behind my ear. He smiles at me and slowly leans forward, capturing my lips in a sweet kiss.

He pulls away and smiles at me. I smile shyly back at him. He leans his forehead against mine. He pulls away slightly, only to lean in for another kiss. I wrap my arms around his neck, kissing him back.

After the kiss, we just stay in each other's arms. I place my head on his shoulder. I close my eyes, savoring the moments. I was so scared to accept who I was before. Mike taught me how to love myself... and I will accept who I am. Because...
