Bella has been moping all week because she never got the chance to confront Edward. I've been eating lunch with the Cullens, and have grown closer to all of them. I was already kinda friends with Alice and Jasper, and Rosalie and I have grown closer as well, bonding over art class. And Emmett... well Emmett is a problem. He's really nice, super sweet, and he always makes me laugh. I have a massive crush on him.
I haven't told anyone about it. Not Bella, not Charlie, not even Renée.
I shake off that thought and follow Bella outside the house.
It's raining, and Bella slips on a patch of ice on the floor, which causes her to come crashing down on me. Luckily for her, I break her fall.
"You alright?" Tío Charlie asks, running to us and helping us up.
"Yeah, I'm good." Bella says.
"Me too." I say.
"Sorry Angel, ice doesn't really help the uncoordinated." Bella cringes. I chuckle at this.
"Yeah, that's why I had some new tires put on the truck." he glances at me. "Old ones were getting pretty bald."
"Thank god" I mutter under my breath.
"I'm probably gonna be late for dinner. I gotta head down to Mason County. Security gaurd at the Grisham Mill got killed by some kind of animal." he informs us.
"An animal?" Bella asks.
"You're not in Pheonix anymore Bells." he says, opening the door to his cop car.
"Anyway I figured I'd lend a hand."
"Be careful." Bella says.
"Please." I add.
"Always am." he smiles at us.
"And thanks for the tires." Bella says.
"Seriously." I say.

After lunch, we trudge into Biology class with Eric. He's talking about the prom or something, but I'm not paying attention. I'm too focused on the fact that a certain Cullen boy is back. Bella and her friends went off campus for lunch, so they didn't see him in the cafeteria. I had lunch with the Cullens though. At first, Edward seemed surprised that I was sitting with them, but he quickly warmed up to me.
I walk to my seat in between the two as Bella and Eric talk near the door.
"Remember what we told you?" I ask the pale boy.
"Be nice." Edward responds.
"Yup, good job." I giggle. She's gonna flip when she sees him.
He straightens up when Bella sees him. They make eye contact and she walks over to us. She sits in her seat and glances over at him.
"Hello." he starts, totally not sounding like he rehearsed this.
"I'm sorry. I didn't get a chance to introduce myself last week." he has a weird half smile, half grimace thing going on, but other than that, he's doing great.
"I'm Edward Cullen. You're Bella?"
She nods for a sec before finally finding her voice.
"Yes."
Mr. Molina starts instructing us to label the onion root tip cells under the microscopes on our table. He tells us that the first group to get it right wins the 'golden onion'. Quite literally an onion spray painted gold. I want it so bad.
"Ladies first." Edward says, pushing the microscope towards her.
She looks at him bewildered, before grabbing the microscope.
"You were gone." she says accusatorily.
"Yeah." Edward says, a bit taken aback. "I was out of town for a couple of days. Personal reasons."
Good lord, could this be any more awkward?
"Prophase." Bella says.
"Do you mind if I look?" he asks. I'm prerry sure he is trying to be smooth, but it's so hard to tell with him. He awkwardly pulls the microscope and looks in.
"It's prophase."
"Like I said."
I take my chance to look too. Its actually metaphase. I roll my eyes and write down 'metaphase' under 'Slide 1'.
"So, are you enjoying the rain?" Edward asks.
Bella scoffs in astonishment, while Edward looks at her with that creepy smile of his.
"What?" he asks.
"You're asking me about the weather?"
"Yeah, I guess I am."
"Oh for the love of..." I mutter. "Can you two do this awkward flirting thing when I'm not literally right in between you?"
I get up and walk to Mr. Molina.
"Could I work by myself? My partners are distracting me. Plus, I have an experiment I want to try. I hypothesize that they're not gonna get anything done if I'm not there to keep them on track." He chuckles and agrees, allowing me to do the assignment by myself, pulling out an extra microscope and slides of cells. He sets me up at the counter for the sink in the classroom. I hear Bella tell Edward how she doesn't like the rain, or the cold, or the wet.
Metaphase, anaphase, prophase, prophase, interphase, telophase, cytokinesis, anaphase, metaphase, interphase, anaphase, prophase, telophase, metaphase, cytokinesis. Easy.
I walk up to Mr. Molina and claim the Golden Onion. The bell rings and Bella and Edward get out of their seats.
"Wow." I mutter.
"You were right." Mr. Molina says. "They didn't finish."
I snicker.
"I'll make sure to keep them on track next time."
I walk out into the hall and see Edward walking away from Bella.
"Whats got him all riled up?" I say as I make it to her.
"Oh my god, Angel. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to leave you."
"I'm not a baby, prima." I reassure her before walking away to Art class.

"I think I'm starting to regret telling Edward to be nice to Bella," I tell Emmett as he jogs with me.
"Why?"
"You should have seen them in biology. It was the most awkward, cringey flirting ever. Eddy had this totally creepy smile on his face the whole time, and Isa kept on licking her lips." I shudder.
Emmett laughs loudly.
"Someone needs to teach him how to flirt." I giggle. "Promise me one thing right now."
"What?"
"If you ever see me flirting with a guy and I remind you of either of them while I do it, please just take me out."
He pauses for a moment before letting out a loud guffaw.
"I'm so serious!" I laugh and stamp my foot.
He smiles and extends his pinky to me.
"I promise that if i I ever see you flirting with a guy and you're acting cringey like Bella and Edward, I will take you out." he says.
I smile at him and wrap my pinkie around his. He smiles at me before picking up speed.
"Ugh, you giant man with your giant legs!" I start to run after him. "I'm short Emmett!"
